Meet Westchester Makeup Artist: Christina Lujan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Lujan.  She’s a rising star within the LA makeup community and we’re super excited to share her story with you.  Below you’ll find edited excerpts of our interview with Christina.

Christina, please share your story with us.  How did you get to where you are today?

Growing up I have always been interested in makeup from watching my mom apply it every day to seeing models in magazine ads. I went to school to get certified in 2009 and since then have been working toward this as a career. I love meeting new people, sharing stories while they are in my chair and making them feel beautiful at the end of each appointment.

Has it been a smooth road?

Nothing is ever smooth. Struggles along the way …bills. I needed to make for sure income and I had to go out and get a 9-5 job and that just seemed to be my life for a bit. I will never lose my passion for makeup and I tried to continue to network, take classes and just do what I can when I can.

What are your plans for the future?
Keep on hustling, networking and to make a name for myself. I want to continue to educate myself in the makeup industry and take courses in all aspects I can.

Let’s dig a little deeper into your story.  What was the hardest time you’ve had?

Karma. Whatever you put out, it comes right back around. All the years I put into trade work, helping out people in the same position as me whether they are in a different career or not it all came back around. Now I am doing makeup for performers on TV Shows or working the same fashion show with celebrity stylists. I never would if guessed I would make it to the point of seeing my work on TV and some red carpets. It’s so rewarding when you are in the moment and really appreciate it thinking “WOW, I can’t believe I am actually here.”  All I want is to continue to have those moments every day and just put smiles on all of my clients. If you love it, it shows.
