Today we’d like to introduce you to Vanessa Henao.
Vanessa, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
For the past couple years, I have had the pleasure of working with corporations from design, art direction, branding, print, and e-commerce. I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts specializing in Communication Design & Art Direction from Texas State University in San Marcos. I have enjoyed working with multiple brands and take great pride in the work being presented. I started as a graphic designer with a small web design company in Connecticut while I was still in college, Once I graduated I had the opportunity to work with various companies primarily in retail and then grew to develop my eye for art direction. I Iove conceptualizing campaigns and ideas working with a great team of photographers, models, makeup, and hairstylist. It’s amazing when you can start an idea in your mind and how you watch it develop into something greater. I have recently relocated to Los Angeles and I’m excited to see what the future holds for me in this amazing city.
Has it been a smooth road?
Of course, life is always going to throw curve balls at you. But with time and persistence, my ambitions and goals have gone far greater than I have ever imagined.
Have you ever wanted to stop doing what you do and just start over?
In any industry or field, you are going to find very difficult moments, whether it’s a coworker a boss or just even any task at hand. The most important thing to do is to stay focus and not let a difficult situation change your entire perspective on a job. Look at the bigger picture and know that is only a temporary situation.
What would you tell someone who is just starting out?
Be persistent and dedicated, that is how you advance and grow. Don’t settle for anything, maintain your goals embedded in your mind and work hard at achieving them.
What are you looking forward to?
There is so much to look forward to. I’m definitely excited for the endless and amazing opportunities out here in Los Angeles.
