Meet Warren Jaycox of Galaxy of Comics in Van Nuys

Today we’d like to introduce you to Warren Jaycox.

Warren, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I worked for Barnes and Noble for close to a decade and was poached by Comic Book chain here in Southern California while down here for the San Diego Comic-Con. I worked for this company for six more years until the owner died and they went out of business at which point I started Galaxy of Comics. We have been here in the San Fernando Valley since January of 2009.

Has it been a smooth road?
We set up in the middle of the Recession of 2009, without knowing it. Our first two years were VERY difficult.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
At a time when many comparable store are diversifying into gaming and entertainment and ignoring the fundamentals of comic books, we are proud to be the Valley’s preeminent comic book and collectible store. With the best customer service anywhere close, we do not hold any gaming events and have the area’s most complete stock of Marvel, DC, Image and Indy comics. When you can’t find a back issue at any regular store, come to the Galaxy of Comics, we’re likely to have it.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Van Nuys gets a bad rap but the city is so large, there are many very nice and friendly areas and with so much residential housing and colleges, it’s a perfect place to start a business.
