Meet Camille Roistacher of Voyage Distribution & Wyllow in Downtown LA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Camille Roistacher.

Camille, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was born and raised in Pasadena, California and attended UC Riverside where I studied business with an emphasis on Finance. I’ve always had a passion for entrepreneurship and looked for opportunities to explore and find what I’m truly passionate about. As a proud Los Angeleno, I feel fortunate to have the opportunity to serve my local community.

Before I became a serial entrepreneur, I had the opportunity to pursue my passion for technology. One of my endeavors involved traveling across the globe, working closely with major technology companies such as Salesforce and DocuSign to teach people from various cultures how to use new and innovative platforms.

As someone who experiences chronic migraines pretty regularly, I originally sought cannabis for medicinal purposes, but I always knew I wanted to get involved with the industry somehow. In 2016, my husband Josh and I opened a boutique dispensary so I could help others with their medicinal needs. It didn’t take long for Josh and me to realize that the supply-chain side of the cannabis business in California needed a facelift. We quickly spotted a few opportunities for improvement that prompted us to launch Voyage Distribution two years later. Voyage Distribution is a fully-integrated cannabis supply chain company that provides wholesale and retail products to brands, retailers, distributors, and manufacturers.

With Voyage Distribution, we work with 400+ of cultivators across California, ranging from Humboldt County to Coachella Valley. We see and smell a ton of different cannabis strains daily, so eventually, we were bound to come across flower that’s so amazing, we’d have no choice but to claim it for ourselves and launch a brand. One day we stumbled upon one particular grower in Coachella Valley with strains that really blew us away. We hadn’t experienced anything quite like it and knew we could do something awesome with it, and from there, our consumer-facing cannabis brand WYLLOW was born.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
When my husband and I were first launching Voyage Distribution, I was pregnant with our son, Adrian. It was evident that not everyone had faith that we could raise a newborn while launching our own company. However, my instincts were telling me that it would be worth it. I knew we could do it. Now, we have a successful vertically integrated cannabis supply chain and a wonderful one-year-old to prove it. The balancing act of overseeing two companies while raising a toddler isn’t the easiest thing in the world, but it sure helps when you’re fulfilling your dreams in the process.

It’s also worth mentioning that when it comes to female leadership, the cannabis industry is starting to look like every other industry out there. As the capital flowed into the industry, we started to see fewer females in the boardroom with c-suite roles. I’m usually the only woman in the room for the important meetings, which is a common elephant in the room that I’ve learned to deal with and use to my advantage from time to time.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Voyage Distribution & Wyllow – what should we know?
As the CEO and Co-Founder of Voyage Distribution and WYLLOW, I oversee the strategy for both operations and supply chain to ensure that everything runs in a compliant and efficient manner. In addition to keeping the business afloat, it’s my job to make the tough decisions, guiding my team in the right direction when it’s time to pivot based on market feedback or due to a crisis.

We’ve built Voyage Distribution to be more than just a distributor. We’re a tech-driven supply-chain company that incubates cannabis brands, distributes products across dispensaries in California, and stores cannabis flower in a one-of-a-kind wholesale showroom. Something that sets us apart is our wholesale showroom that’s the first to utilize POS technology to display a digital menu of inventory and instantly processes bulk transactions.

One of the initiatives I’m most proud of is that we’re leveraging our vast network of over 400 growers who we’ve built trusting relationships with over time to essentially cut out the middleman for high-end flower and make it more attainable and inclusive to the cannabis community. This was our main goal with launching WYLLOW, a flower brand for the conscious cannabis connoisseur that’s powered by Voyage Distribution. WYLLOW’S premium line boasts high-quality strains grown by legacy cultivators with other 100 years of combined experience, so we know that WYLLOW cannabis is a result of unparalleled attention to detail and superior growing methods that have been passed down through generations.

WYLLOW is doing something that very few cannabis flower brands are doing right now, which is elevating the female consumer. You see this often from brands offering edibles, sublinguals or topicals, but it’s very rare for a flower company to prioritize a female audience. Even when a brand does focus on females, rarely is the company actually female-owned.

Another accomplishment I’m proud of is how we managed to use the buzz of WYLLOW’S launch to raise important conversations around social equity, opportunity and female empowerment. We did this through a series of virtual events we hosted in August. Inclusivity is a very important factor of who we are as a company, so we celebrated WYLLOW’S launch by giving back to organizations who are moving the needle in that regard, such as the Floret Coalition and Cannaclusive.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My husband Josh Roistacher who also is the acting COO of Voyage Distribution has played a major role in our success. No matter if it’s securing new business or helping out at home, I know I can rely on him as my support system.
