Today we’d like to introduce you to Viviana Jaramillo A.
So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’m originally from Ecuador, when I was around 16 years old I started playing at different shows around my city. With my dad’s help, I managed to get shows around the area, playing at casinos, beauty pageants, opening up concerts for other artists, etc. Three years ago, I decided to move to LA and study music. I’m a student at the Musicians Institute about to finish my bachelor program, from that time until now, I have focused more on creating and, of course, learning. The time here in LA has helped me develop myself as a singer-songwriter and even to immerse myself into at the audio engineering world, which I now love to do. Currently, I have a home studio in which I’ve been working on my music which I’ll be putting out soon.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
One of the biggest struggles I have found has been, being away from my family, but I’ve found great friends that have been a big support for me in the hard times. Aside from that, the music industry is not an easy business, there are so many different artists all around the area but what have kept me going is the fact that I love music, and that I feel so connected to people through music, that it does not feel like a competition, as many may picture, but is actually a matter of connecting and sharing what your heart has to say, and who are we to stop our hearts from talking.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I’m a singer-songwriter with various influences, at the moment my top three will be Joss Stone, Jessie J and Steffany Gretzinger. With my music I want to touch hearts and make people feel something even if it is for a couple of minutes. I have new music coming soon and I’ve been leading worship at a Catholic Church every Wednesday at 6pm for around seven months now. I’m also working with a couple of musicians as an audio engineer.
I will say that in this music industry there’s a need for authenticity and honesty, and that’s what I’m bringing, this is just me as I am put into music.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
There has been a lot of humans that have in some way or another shape me in the way I am as a musician, starting from my first vocal teacher who passed away around four years ago Maria Elena Vallejo, to the many vocal teachers that have not only invested their time in my technique and flexibly of my voice but also in me as a human being. (Gina Saputo, Christina Wilson, Alex Dominguez, Dawn Bishop & more.) To my music teachers in general, every single one of the thought me very valuable things about music and the way it should be given for the others.
The other side of this will be my family that have been there from day one, supporting me in every aspect of my music career.
