Meet Viviana Harvey of Sparkling Clean Cleaning Services and Carpet Care

Today we’d like to introduce you to Viviana Harvey.

Viviana, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was born June 15, @7:35 p.m. I’m the 6th of 7 siblings. My parents both deceased would say I was the most spirited of the kids. At the age of 17 I left home with my 3 month old son in tow. I had another daughter, then in 1979 married where another daughter was born in 1980. In 1985 I landed a job with a very prestigious Law Firm here in downtown Los Angeles, where I started my company Weekend Kleen. It was called weekend kleen due to me being only able to work my business on the weekend. It was great I had customers from my job at the Law Firm, I even advertised in our monthly newsletter. Well in 1987 the prestigious law firm fired me and Weekend Kleen became Sparkling Clean Cleaning Services and Carpet Care. With various struggles my biggest being drug addiction, I still manage to hold onto the hopes of one day being a successful business owner. In 2005, Sparkling Clean Cleaning Services. And Carpet Care, LLC was incorporated. In 2017 Sparkling Clean became certified as a Women/Minority owned business as well as a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise. Sparking Clean hold certification in both the county city and local governments.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
My journey struggle was self-inflicted. At the age of 42 I received my GED, which I’m so proud of myself for. It was the first of many accomplishments I would later obtain. My addiction to drugs led me to Atlanta Georgia I call my rehab state I didn’t know anyone who smoke so I knew it would be hard for me to continue that habit. My best girlfriend live there so that’s where I lived until 2000 when I came home married in 2005. My biggest struggles have been with financing. Nobody’s wants to pay the janitor. The janitor is undocumented illiterate person. Nobody’s wants to pay the wages necessary to sustain a stable income necessary just to live. And put food on the table. I’ve have vendor who didn’t pay me, me being the employer it’s my responsibility to see to it that the employees are paid. Finance has been the struggle by me paying the employees $12.00 hr. when I first started. In 2013 I have 8 employees I was very happy I had landed the contract at the Beverly Center Cleaning 6 stores in the center along with another 5 off-site stores. Well the vendor did not pay me and I took off shoes and socks stocks and life insurances to pay those employees. Well guess what it all went downhill after that. I became estranged from my husband, I lost all my saving and retirement plan to pay for my employees who so diligently worked and did a fantastic job.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Sparkling Clean Cleaning Services and Carpet Care, LLC – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Sparkling Clean is a family owned business. My certification is in janitorial carpet and upholstery cleaning. I would said our specify is detail. We just don’t move the dirt we remove the dirt. We sparkle where others just shine. If we can’t clean you need to throw it away. What set us apt is our efficiency, no hidden costs once price is quoted. No fanfare just results. The most thing I’m most proud of is the people who have worked for me and have gone on to do great thing things. I’ve had employees who have had challenging background who have gone on to do great things. I have one who have bought a home, one started his own company. Another proud moment for me and my business was when I became certified with the State as a minority women owned business.
