Meet Vivi Lopez of Digital Witch Photography

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vivi Lopez.

Vivi, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I guess growing up and living in San Diego has always seemed magical to me, the diversity, the different unique locations through my city and throughout California, Creatives in each corner. However, growing up my number one priority was to do well in school and be a friend to everyone and spread love everywhere I go.

But it was difficult to do those things while dealing with inner emotions such as depression and anxiety. I do art and photography fashion. Anything with the creative route as a way to certain myself. In a way, it’s very therapeutic to be able to express the different colors that were wrapped away inside of yourself and then let it be shown through your art and the way you dress leaves people guessing to who you are and what’s your story.

For me, I am a 22-year-old college student who happens to be an Eclectic witch and Creative. Who wishes to capture people’s energy and raw emotions within a photograph and let them express the colors they have or the colors they yet to discover within themselves and be able to see what I see in my eyes by vividly painting it with my love of photography. I always want to make sure my family friends and even my clients are happy with my work and capture them in the most them they can be with my photography.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
In the creative world, you are going to run into those bumps in the roads and have times of feeling burned out because of the high demands from yourself or even from others, or even times where you mentally can’t because you need to take care of yourself and do a little self-care time or even having to cut some people away from your life because you felt they need to go for them to grow. Life isn’t easy. I know that I will run across situations where it will become an obstacle to reach my goals. So I keep holding on no matter the problems I get faced with because, with every storm, there is a beautiful rainbow coming my way and things will get better. I always remember what I do have, that’s my family and good friends that I am surrounded with and their support and love. I always try to look at the bright side of everything. It’s just how I always been.

Please tell us about Digital Witch Photography.
Digital Witch Photography all started with me quitting being a model myself mainly for personal reasons and having different values as a person. That’s when I kind of went running to the music scene with a beginner camera, to be honest. I really wanted to capture my fav local band’s emotions and energy through my eyes and of course, build them up as a band with my skills making them look as best as I can. It took me a while to actually get to portrait photography and other sorts of photography because of my anxiety. But it wasn’t till I attended a photo group meet-up that a friend in my high school invited me too. Shout out to you, memo! That I finally started to open more up and show the colors that were hidden within me to come out and resonate with others who enjoy the arts and photography as I do and fellow creative like me. It was liberating for me and I will never forget that moment of feeling welcomed into Picture Partay.

So now I specialize in all types of photography going from concerts to portraits to conceptual photography and much more. I feel like what sets my photography and art apart from others is the energy and emotions. My dream is to capture the unapologetically, fun and artistic, real moments from people so they can look back and feel the energy in that photo, remembering it fondly and keeping it close to their hearts. I want my photography and art to scream “why did she do it this way” or “whoa I felt some things” or even “how did she do this? What brought this concept or this idea” etc. in conclusion I just know I want to show the visions and ideas flowing in my head out in some way and make people love themselves and be happy with the way we decided to describe their energy and their beauty waiting to burst out of them.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Truthfully that is something I tend to think back and forth on, but my answer would be no. Mainly because I wouldn’t be where I am right now and the struggles and situations I was put in were lessons from life to teach me ways how to handle it and how to maintain strength to get through it, either it was my mental health or people wanting to see me fall, or even juggling school or even making time for my photography while having part-time job, etc. I still would have done the same path because, in all of that, I became wiser and stronger and made good friends and had some opportunities that included in my growth as a person and creative. of course, it helped me built healthy boundaries for myself. I feel like if I did it in any other way, something or someone I experienced wouldn’t have happened to teach me something or helped in some way either it be my growth, my dreams or even my art.
