Vijay, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I have worked as an admissions interview coach for years, helping applicants to college, medical school, business school, medical residency, and physician’s assistant school get into top schools and programs such as Harvard, Stanford, University of Chicago, USC, UCLA, and UC-Berkeley. While I have earned a name as the “miracle worker” who can make sure that my clients make a great impression at their admissions interview, I have little control over the mistakes they had made in other parts of the application process, such as having poorly written application essays, bad letters of recommendation, missing important application deadlines or selecting the wrong schools to apply. In order to ensure my clients achieved the greatest admissions success, I decided to expand my business to help manage the entire college and grad school application process.
SOSAdmissions.com was founded with that vision in mind. We help our clients manage all aspects of the application process including writing application essays and personal statements, preparing for interviews, getting letters of recommendation, and meeting deadlines. And we personalize the process and identify each client’s marketable skills and accomplishments in order to ensure that they have the best chance of admission to the college or graduate school of their choice.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Sometimes, college admissions clients come to us late in the application cycle or after they have made crucial mistakes. That’s why we spend a lot of time educating our clients about the basics of the application process. There are a lot of misconceptions about the application process to college or graduate school. Applicants make mistakes such as not applying to enough safety schools, not emphasizing their educational and professional accomplishments in their application, or not picking the right people to get letters of recommendation from. All of these mistakes are avoidable. That’s why we advise our clients to start early.

What were you like growing up?
I have always had a passion for learning. I loved to study: History, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. I was a National Merit Scholar and AP Scholar with distinction, who made honor roll every semester of high school. I guess that is why I ended up going to college at an academic powerhouse like the University of Chicago. Education has always been something I am passionate about. As an admissions consultant, I try to share that passion with my college admissions clients.
