Today we’d like to introduce you to Victoria Sukhasyan.
Hi Victoria, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was born in Moscow, 1987. I lived in Russia till my thirties. I moved to Los Angeles with my family five years ago because of the political situation in my country. I wanted my kids to live in a place where they could experience diversity, equal rights, and possibilities. I used to be a lawyer in Russia, but I’ve always dreamt to become an artist. I started my art journey in 2018. I remember selling my first painting for $15. It was one of the happiest and thrilling moments in my life. Now, I’m selling my paintings and prints worldwide, and I’m taking part in different art shows and exhibitions here in LA. I had my first solo art show in 2022.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I can sincerely say that the road was very smooth, and it felt like my wildest dream came true.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I love catching simple things and pleasures of life. I enjoy painting fast food still lives, wine and scenes from the popular movies. I like to paint simple objects of our everyday life. Sometimes I add a twist to it. For example, I painted In-N-Out Burger and Fries which were drifting in the open space. I’m pretty proud of that work.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson was given to me by my art teacher in Russia. He said,- “Don’t think about whether your art is worthy or not. Just practice. Even on the days when you don’t feel like painting, just take a pencil and make a quick five-minute sketch. And then you’ll notice that you become better and better and better in painting”.
