Today we’d like to introduce you to Victoria Martinez.

Bellflower Beauty College of Lakewood was once Bellflower Adult Cosmetology..

When the Bellflower Unified School District closed all of the adult programs, in 2012, I opened my own private beauty college through the Bureau of Private Postsecondary Education and the Board of Barbering and Cosmetology.

I was able to complete, graduate, and through the State of California, license all those students (20) who were unable to finish the Adult Cosmetology program through the unified school district.

I have happily been in business as BBC of Lakewood Cosmetology for 4 years and have since graduated 100+ students.

This is by far the most rewarding occupation on earth, teaching a vocational trade to all who enroll.

These students have become awesome industry professionals, in their own right. Their talents are amazing!

I will continue to offer superior education to those seeking professional success for many years to come.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The only struggle I had was waiting for BPPE approval. The application process was grueling. I waited 9 months and was one month away from bankruptcy when…Hallelujah! My school approval was granted!

I have been making up for lost time, successfully, ever since.

We are a beauty college.

Classes are offered in Cosmetology, Esthetics, Barbering, and Manicuring.

We have a fantastic passing rate and our stats are high within the industry.

The students are more than prepared to test with the Board of Barbering and Cosmetology and to begin their future careers in the profession of their choice.

I am a small private company and I am proud to say our students get lots of tender loving care as they learn, expand, and perfect their skills.

Being a private school we are able to be much more accommodating with tuition payments and everyday life schedules

What were you like growing up?
I was doing doll hair as early as kindergarten. Any doll with hair had a beautiful makeover.

As I grew up I would soon be working on the neighborhood ladies and neighborhood kids practicing haircutting, hair coloring, and perms.

It was very apparent the hair and beauty industry would be my life’s direction and my lifelong passion.

After 44 years, my most favorite thing now is being an educator. I have so much to share.
