Today we’d like to introduce you to Victor Rodriguez.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am a 26-year-old man that started out as a barber, went to school and got licensed. Later to realize that I prefer working outdoors my love for trees and plants eventually became a business maintaining them, feeding them, trimming them etc. I was given the opportunity to work at a large upscale property for many years. That made me realize how great I was at gardening. Watching things turn from night to day was what really caught my attention. I was motivated to learn more and more about arboriculture and such. Till this day, I continue studying new landscaping trades. I hope to one day be the best of the best in Los Angeles.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Well, the first 3 years of my business was extremely difficult, just buying a couple trucks hiring workers that are qualified, and buying commercial expensive tools really took a toll on me. Working long hours and hot afternoons was also hard for me I thought maybe this isn’t for me. Also, my friends and family asked me why I didn’t go out with them on weekends and so. It was challenging to start a landscaping business from scratch when if you think about there is so much competition out there especially in the valley.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about All About Cuts Landscape – what should we know?
Every day is a learning experience for me. Sometimes things don’t go the way they are planned, sometimes One small error or estimate goes wrong and we take a loss. I would also state that having good competitors is a major key since we are always striving to be the best company out there.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I believe the only person that deserves credit is me, I put it in the hard work, with the help of awesome clients I have gained more experience and discovered new ways of working professionally.
