Meet Victor Arellano of V1cdbarber Wealth Barbershop in Rancho Cucamonga

Today we’d like to introduce you to Victor Arellano.

Victor, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
It all started by default to be honest. I was at crossroads in life. I was young man trying figure out my next move. Fresh out of high school, I worked a couple of dead end jobs. I knew fast I had to plan for a better tomorrow. Growing up, I always imagined being on the radio like Big Boy on Power 106. When I soon realized the school I wanted to go was out of my budget. I quickly thought about a plan b. Growing up, I loved getting my haircuts. Even though I never thought of cutting or even picking up a pair of clippers. At the time my barber and good friend mentioned I should go to barber school. I played with the idea for a couple of weeks until I made my mind up. Not knowing what expect to expect. I took a leap of faith. In 2004 I signed up at Pomona Barber College and that is where my barber career started. I committed to finishing 1500 hours of barber school and then taking my state board I accomplished the task in getting my license. Although everything seemed uphill at the time I would of never thought it was preparing me for biggest lessons.

Has it been a smooth road?
It for sure was not a smooth road at all ha! I can now laugh looking back. Being the first in my family to become a barber there was no blueprint. It seemed as If I made every mistake possible early in my career. I was very hungry like most of my upbringing nothing ever came easy. Fresh out barber school with no clue. I knew one thing and that was I had found my passion. So many times, I made business decisions based of emotion and not logic. Going straight into a new shop and paying rent and having no clients at all made difficult to provide and make ends meet. I knew it was the passion and not the money that fueled me to keep at it. Being at different some shops learning from the good and the bad. The doubts fears I kept pushing forward.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the V1cdbarber Wealth Barbershop story. Tell us more about the business.
Being a barber has allowed me to do many things travel the world, work with some top people and experience many things. One of many things I am very proud of is my shop Wealth Barbershop. How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The barber industry has exploded in the last recent years. Witch is amazing how far and how many barriers have been broken. The industry will constantly change throughout the years for the good. There no limit or anything would surprise me none the less I can’t to see what lies ahead I’m sure it will be a sight to see.
