Today we’d like to introduce you to Veronica Mattar and Cinthia Origgi.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Mane fixation was first conceived three and half years ago. While hiking, both Cinthia and I realized how we shared the same vision and decided to create this business venture together. We have been in the hair business for over ten years and were ready to take everything we’ve learned to the next level. Our vibes, personality, and interest were instantly synced. We gave birth to our baby Mane Fixation on February 27th, 2015. We wanted to create an anti-salon environment where both stylists and clients felt at home. Since then we have nurtured every client with lots of love and of course with lots of unicorn hair color! We both brought different things to the table, from spirituality to business savvy. We were able to create a unique vibe to our space.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We have taken every struggle as a blessing. We always remind ourselves, “it’s not happening to you but it’s happening for you.” This quote has never failed us. Before we opened our space, we were all fired from our salon, leaving us “salon less,” and we still needed a month until we can open our space. Luckily we found salons to take our clients for two weeks and because of this, we pushed ourselves to open way quicker than we could ever imagine.
Also, opening our second location, we had a couple of bumps in the road. Especially having to be in 2 places at once. Luckily enough, we (Cinthia and Veronica) make a balanced partnership. Cinthia’s strong points and Veronica’s strong points definitely make up two peas in a pod. We wouldn’t have it any other way then having not only a business bond but also a strong friendship.
Mane Fixation – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Break free from the ordinary spa-like salon with an upbeat environment with loud music, crystal healing, aromatherapy, unicorn cereal and a variety of events, giving both stylists and clients a unique healing experience. We wanted to be different from the rest. A place where clients feel relaxed and hair stylists are free to create art without boundaries. We have built a passionate community that aims to bring beauty into the world. We use our space for different events such as yoga, sound bath meditations, music shows, etc. because we love bringing different artists to see what we can create together as a community. Ultimately, we strive to inspire stylists all over the world by exhibiting that hairdressing is not only an art, it’s a culture.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Proudest moment… How can we pick one! From manifesting a staff that we can call family in a drama free environment, to building up stylists at a quick pace within our first year of opening, to building out our dream salon within a one month period having it run quickly and smoothly. One of our recent proudest moments was opening our second location in the beautiful Arts District in Downtown LA. We felt like that’s where our vibe fit right in. Knowing that after just three years of being open, we were able to expand our brand and spread beauty in different parts of LA.
