Meet Veejay Floresca of Veejay Floresca Fashion Studio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Veejay Floresca.

Veejay, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started my love for fashion when I was accepted in De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde in Manila, Philippines. I graduated Cum Laude and was full scholar. After college, I started my own business, and then studied Vintage Fashion Bridalwear in London. After few years, I went to San Francisco and finished my master’s degree in fashion major in womenswear. Last year, I opened my company in Los Angeles. Right now, I am doing custom clothing for private clients.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It was not easy, but I am very passionate about what I do, so, even there are a lot of obstacles and challenges, I still find ways to make it work.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I specialize in custom bridal, evening wear, and bespoke suits for private clients. I sit down and work with them and create custom clothing for special occasions. I require 2-3 fittings. All clothes are made by hand in Los Angeles. My design aesthetic is modern glamour. I like to create clothes that can make my clients stand out. I am proud of myself because right now, the business is still small, and literally, I do everything myself from patterns, cutting, sewing and sometimes, delivery. My goal is to work harder and make it grow. Hopefully I can hire staff to help me in the future.

What were you like growing up?
I like being creative. I like arts and I always admire people wearing beautiful clothing.
