Today we’d like to introduce you to Valerie Mehlman.
Valerie, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was born and raised in the West Los Angeles/Beverly Hills area. Growing up in the Mecca of Plastic Surgery, it has always intrigued me. In 2011, I took a job at a plastic surgeon’s office to learn as much as I could about the industry. I found that patients had so many needs and questions (practical and emotional) in order to prepare them before, during and after surgery. I have always preferred to be my own boss and saw that there was a niche that needed to be filled. I began introducing myself to the surgical offices in Beverly Hills and created a trust relationship with the coordinators and surgeons.
Everyone I spoke to was very excited about these much-needed services and I got my first job to take care of a post-op plastic surgery patient in one week. I had reinvented myself and After, After Care was born!
Through a lot of networking and hard work I have built a successful after care concierge business which includes both private after care services as well as transportation. In 2015, I was introduced to Michele Garber, an independent Plastic Surgery consultant and founder of the NipTuck Coach in San Francisco.
With Michele’s extensive knowledge of plastic surgery procedures, and my expanding after care business, it was a natural fit. We have now incorporated many more services to round out the business and fill a much-needed gap in the Plastic Surgery industry.
While I have expanded my concierge after care services to the greater Los Angeles Area/ Southern California area, we also added a gentleman to be our Director of Transportation, providing after care services for patients upon request.
My business continues to grow due to the ever increasing demand for plastic surgery and professional recovery services. Plus, I live in the Plastic Surgery Mecca of the world. I have met so many interesting and grateful patients, many who have become good friends. This journey continues to be interesting and full of surprises.

Has it been a smooth road?
Entering the competitive world of plastic surgery is very challenging. Beverly Hills has several plastic surgeries after care facilities, therefore surgery practices around the area are very aware of the importance of excellent professional post-op care.
This philosophy made it a little easier for me to build relationships and gain the trust of the surgeons and their staff. There were times when I was challenged by the fact that I am not a licensed medical person. However, as I developed relationships with the surgeons and built their trust, my business grew. In order for this to happen, I had to personally continue to market myself and visit as many offices as possible on any given day. There are 100’s of Beverly Hills Plastic Surgery offices to visit. I believe my outgoing and nurturing personality is my strength.
Some seasons are slower than others especially when many surgeons are on vacation or attending medical conventions. Being in a small business, it is always a challenge to tough out the feast or famine.

Our team at After, After Care provides the support, nurturing and care that Plastic Surgery patients need in the comfort of their home or hotel. Sometimes patients don’t want anyone to know they are having a plastic surgery procedure or just need reassurance, extra care and support. Friends and family are often unprepared to provide professional recovery services.
We will assist patients with all their pre and post operative plastic surgery needs for all of the numerous procedures.
We are aware that each patient has unique needs and those needs are customized so that all requests are met. We assure complete discretion and confidentiality.

We also have Plastic Surgery Coaching Services to assist you with medical specialist referral, treatment planning, hotel accommodations and check in and coaching and support.

We are most proud of our association with Face Forward Inc. they are a non-profit organization assisting victims of domestic abuse and violence and human sex trafficking from all over the world. Numerous Beverly Hills surgeons, Cosmetic Dental surgeons and psychiatrists and psychologists donate their services to help these victims begin anew. When we are called upon to assist with aftercare or transportation, it is always a pleasure to be involved.

- $375.00 for 4 Hour Aftercare ($50.00 for each additional hour)
- $150.00 for 2 Hour Minimum Transportation ($50.00 Hourly thereafter)
