Meet Vahe Shahinian of It’s My Seat in Glendale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vahe Shahinian.

Vahe, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started developing itsmyseat.com back in 2004 as a means for all local community events to have access to a professional ticketing platform where ticket sales, reporting and seating maps are all combined in one affordable and readily available service. So, I started programming the system on my spare time and weekends, and launched it in 2005 August. Since then I maintained the system by upgrading it and growing the user base. By 2011, it was so busy with client work that I took a voluntary severance package from my full-time job, and dedicated all my time to running the business.

Right now, company handles thousands of events a year, has employees and has new programmers who are working on newer updates with more features of the site.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Overall, it has been a struggle and also many successes. The challenge was getting people to use it initially, and now the challenge is maintaining the technology updates and introducing new features and enhancements.

Please tell us about It’s My Seat.
At this point, my task is high level overseeing of the operation and maintaining the clients. I also help out my staff and programmers with any questions or roadblocks that may come up.

I am proud of the company’s growth and service to the community, and our level of service at the given rates is what sets us apart from the bigger/generic ticketing systems.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would have started this much sooner instead of going to graduate school.
