Today we’d like to introduce you to Precious DelaCruz.
Precious, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
It all happened so fast to be completely honest. I really didn’t expect to end up in the creative world the way I did. I first had my foot in the fashion world working at Jeffrey Campbell as an intern then being hired as an E-Commerce Merchandiser. I thought to myself, “Yeah, I can see myself doing this for a while.”
In which I did! I went on to my next venture as an E-Commerce Merchandiser in another corporate company then moved my way up to a Licensing Coordinator position – which I grew to love! I was part of the design process which included design approvals, mock-ups, sample approvals, all that jazz. But something in me was craving more – more creativity and something more hands-on. Don’t get me wrong, I learned so much being a Licensing Coordinator but at the end of the day, I really couldn’t see myself being behind a computer screen for nine hours every weekday.
Things were going well, but unfortunately, my Licensing position was dissolved and although I was offered another role I didn’t see myself excelling in that position or in that company. Again, I was craving more but I just didn’t know what – I just wanted to create. I respectfully declined the other role and took a well deserved month off to figure things out.
Although having a month off felt AMAZING, money was getting tight and I needed to find another job and fast. Luckily, I remembered that one of my old coworkers landed a photographer position at Undefeated Creative and I asked him if they needed help. Next thing you know, I was hired as a junior photographer and worked my way up to being the Lead Product Stylist (as well as being a photographer and apparel stylist) that I am today!
Has it been a smooth road?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. Lots of break-downs, lots of self-doubt, lots of crying, lots of “Wtf am I doing with my life?” moments. I can honestly say I’ve had many dark moments in 2019. 2019 was a year of growth for me and I am so proud of the woman I am today and I’m excited to continue to grow and expand my knowledge in the creative world.

I currently work at Undefeated Creative which is a creative agency based in Los Angeles. I am the Lead Product Stylist but I also do photography and apparel styling when needed but I specialize in product styling.
I am most proud of the dynamic we have here at Undefeated Creative. Being in the creative world is very tough sometimes and it helps to have a team that wants to see you succeed whether it’s helping with setting up or bouncing ideas off of each other. This is the kind of environment that I thrive in.
What sets us apart from others would be the quality of our work. We make sure to put the time, effort, and care when we shoot for our clients.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Los Angeles is definitely a place where you can find many opportunities especially in the creative world. I’m still very new to this world so for someone just starting out, you can network your ass off all you want but it’s really the quality of your work as well as your work ethic that speaks volumes. You must learn to hold yourself accountable if you want to be in the creative industry.
