Meet Ugly Primo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ugly Primo.

Ugly, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My name is Ugly Primo, and I am an “artist/creative director.” I try to create fun art and videos based on things I grew up with or things that inspire me at the moment. I illustrate, paint & direct. I’ve worked with artists such as Bad Bunny, Cuco, Juanes, Tropicalia Music Festival and more. I think people just started sharing my content because they think it’s funny.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, people always steal my designs and smack their logo on it. People take my ideas, but I have a lot more, so I’m not really tripping.

We’d love to hear more about what you do.
I’m most known for my illustrated art and skits. I think what sets me apart from others is I focus my art and mix references from the Latino and American Pop Culture I am familiar with.

There’s a lot of other people like me who are born here and grow up with American Pop Culture yet we are still strongly attached to our roots in Latino culture. I am very aware and involved in different scenes.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I feel like I’ve been blessed with all of the support from the primos and friends. Not so much lucky. I try to outwork everyone.
