Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyson Baker.
Hi Tyson, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started as an activist, community organizer, and comedian In Englewood, a big neighborhood on the south side of Chicago. I then moved to California and settled in Inglewood, CA, and have now lived in the city of Inglewood for 10 years. I am the brand manager for the Inglewood clothing company and a comedian here in the city as well, performing at open mics and hosting my own events within Inglewood as well called Summer Vibes.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Honestly, it has been a struggle at times to maintain my Inglewood citizenship, working multiple jobs at the same time, managing a brand and my own business, as well as raising a family and being a parent to a child with special needs. But all in all, I’ve heavily relied on the grace and peace of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, to get me through.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I am first a for most a child of God. Then I am a father, business owner, Brand manager, videographer, writer and comedian. I love to embrace my creative side through content creation and started my own media company in 2019 called Way Up Media Group, where we specialize in making positive content. I am known around the city as Mr. Inglewood because I am probably the only person that has lived in both Englewood and Inglewood plus, I’m always wearing Inglewood clothing and brands and interviewing prominent people in Inglewood for Inglewood stories. I am proud of the fact that I moved to this city in 2011 with two suite cases and a PlayStation 2, no job, no car, and just a hand full of family members, and 12 years later, I’m still here and making it happen for myself and my family. What sets me apart from others is my drive, sincerity, and ideals. My character is built on work ethic, follow-up, and doing right by people. This is how I’ve been able to not only survive in this city but also the reason why I’ve thrived in the city of Los Angeles/Inglewood.

That I am a media geek. I love learning about new technology, media, and editing techniques. I wake up every day and pray, meditate, and read the Bible in search of wisdom and understanding. I’m also ranked online in the top 15% for Madden football
