Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyler Talbert.
Hi Tyler, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was in 8th Grade about 13/14 y/o. My bludda told me we should start tapping in with music since his cousin was already rapping. So he decided to start producing and make all the beats for our Artist Speedway Forgiato who was already rapping at the time then I would shoot all the videos and photos and capture all the in between content and making of all our projects we did. After that, I started to really take videos serious. I first started off doing photoshoots for all of our close friends then it went to freelance mixtape highlight videos for about five of the basketball players on my high school’s team and then from there someone seen my basketball highlight videos and reached out to me and asked me to do a music video for $300.
After that, I realized most of the good cameras for music videos were too expensive for me in high school and most of my family didn’t understand or really see my vision so they wouldn’t really wanna help invest too much in it. They would just encourage me to focus more on my basketball and soccer since I was already getting scouting and flying overseas/ state to state all high school career for college showcase. So I decided to just excel and work on my editing so I bought an Apple MacBook Air and the Sony a6300 camera and just tried to perfect/master my craft with just those the best way I could. After a year and a half of just working my blood brother’s childhood friend, Biggs told me to tap in with his Cousin Swoosh God when I was at a barbershop in our hood and we were both getting a cut. Swoosh told me there he was f*cking with my work and brought me around everywhere after that n introduced me to all of The Barriers / AWGE members in like 2018. After that, I met Smooky Margielaa at a Barriers Pop up one weekend in NYC and we ended up staying locked in because we was the same age and I was from same hood as Swoosh doing something a little different & we been locked in really ever since then. The day after the Barriers Pop up Swoosh brought me to a show for Playboi Carti where he was supposed to open up but when we got on stage venue was acting weird and never let him go on, really got me mad though because I felt like they violated and he brings a whole different energy/vibe to shows so that show would’ve been crazy too. But Sheck Wes and Asap Rocky ended up coming out and It was still turnt but would’ve been fire to see a long-time friend be turning the stage up the same way these guys do.
After that, over the summer me and Swoosh kept working on videos and he was going to London to open up for Ajay Tracey at the wireless festival and then Swoosh asked me to come with him to get footage and cool recaps so I decided to book a flight the next day and go to London. I ended up staying in London with AJ and met all of his people and he brought me and Swoosh God to all of his studio sessions and his label meetings such as Warner music group, Atlantic records. He and Swoosh were booked to perform with Adam 22 for his NoJumper international tour where I ended up breaking and losing my phone at the show when my flight was the very next day so I ended up having to stay in West London for an extra two weeks because all of the apple stores were booked with reservations and then I ended up finally flying back to LA by myself from London and ended up linking back up with Smooky. From there, we started getting exotic rentals and spent days on Melrose racing and recorded a bunch of music videos there at his mansion. This past year I’ve been working on my company Richview that allows artists like Smooky to get the platform they deserve if the label they’re signed to doesn’t give them enough recognition or allows any upcoming artist to be given the opportunity to be seen in the industry. Me and my team continue to provide content viewers desire and we describe ourselves as a one stop shop. We do music videos, event planning, photography, marketing, we’re simply media producers and creatives and our work speaks for itself. This isn’t my peak nor is it the end, I feel like I’m just getting started.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The struggle is just people not believing in your vision because you’re so young.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Richview is my company/business name and we do everything all from home. We’re known around our towns and we started by just thugging it out, perfecting our crafts and showing real genuine love to the people and artists who looked out for us from the beginning to get us to the point where we’re at. Now we just want to create a home for the best of the best creatives and we only need a selective few. You have to show us a reason why you’re different from other creatives! You can learn the skills we have and help us build the artists we work with by providing a unique style from the others! Now we can provide all the services any Label / Management Production Company can offer but more!
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Learning from an early age that life could change at any moment so you gotta be prepared for anything. You could choose to dwell on life or choose to create an opportunity for yourself.
