Meet Tyler Gallant

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyler Gallant.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Ever since I could remember I have been creative and imaginative so when I started acting at around seven years old, that’s when I realized that I really loved it. I was doing home movies with my brother, friends and cousins.  Some of the films were remakes of Hollywood films and some were original content.  The funny thing is in some of our movies we had rolling credits, music, makeup, wardrobe and some special effects, we really would go all out.  A few years down the line I found my other life’s passion of ice hockey goaltending at 12 after playing street hockey with my friends and family. I have now done the two side by side for most of my life.

I played college and some pro hockey which ended up helping me so much with my career in acting. The work ethic, dedication, team mentality and the friends I met in hockey ended up being so helpful transitioning into being a working actor.  Acting is just like hockey in that every position is so important and without a good team pulling together, you will struggle.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, I would not say the Journey has not been easy at all, lots of hurdles for sure in both hockey and in acting. The one thing I will say is I have had wonderful support from my family and friends and without them it would be very tough.  In hockey I had a string of groin injuries which ultimately got me out of pursuing continuing my hockey career. Sometimes things happen for a reason because that choice set me up for going full speed ahead into acting. This choice was hard at first but I soon realized I truly loved acting and everything about it.

Acting reminds me of sports in that it is so competitive. Living in Los Angeles has really heightened that because the Best actors from around the world have come here to also try their hand at Hollywood.  Whatever your passion is and how hard it may seem,  you need to fight for it and give it your all.  My biggest fear is to look back and say I didn’t give my all.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Tyler Gallant story. Tell us more about the business.
I am an actor and I coach ice hockey goalies. These two professions are my lifelong passions and I believe people that have worked with me in film and hockey have seen how much I love both.

In acting, I pride myself as being a character actor although I have done leading Man roles as well. I like to challenge myself with taking on many different characters and like the transformation that you go through, it is also fun when people don’t recognize you from role to role.  You can find some of my latest works on Amazon Prime: “#followme” and “alpha wolf.”  Upcoming releases are “Blind” “Rootwood” and “desert moon.”

In ice hockey goalie coaching I have kids I coach from eight years old to adults. All different skill sets from high level to recreational.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I know some people talk about luck but for me I think the main components to success are hard work, focus and timing.  I’ll leave you with a few sayings that coaches I’ve had in the past told me that I’ve always carried with me are: “luck is opportunity meets preparation” and “the man who said I can and the man who said I can’t are both right”.
