Today we’d like to introduce you to Ty Warner
Hi Ty, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Growing up in a small town in Florida, I played tennis and wrestled all my life. I did a shoot with a local model for my mom’s birthday and that shoot ended up with me being scouted and being sent to LA!
When I moved to LA I was 17 with no friends. It took me a long time to make friends and even longer to book my first job! The first 3 years of modeling in LA and NY were tough for me, I only booked fashion shows and a few commercial jobs so paying my $300 a month rent was so difficult.
I survived because a close friend introduced me to runway waiters which opened the door to model catering and bartending!
Through model catering and bartending, I was able to make much more friends and find opportunities I wouldn’t have had. I’ve been able to serve and bartend for many celebrities and major events.
Once the pandemic hit, that’s when my life changed for the better.
After the pandemic lightened my modeling career took off! I started shooting campaigns, walking major shows, and shooting for Vogue in Mexico with Kendall Jenner. The last 4 years have been a snowball that I’m very thankful for!
Nowadays I still model and have also become an actor since the pandemic, I’ve shoot many short films including one that placed highly in the 48-hour film festival. I also help young men and struggling models in their journey to becoming a model, surviving the industry, helping models join model catering companies to make some side money, and providing insight to this industry that most models will not help with. I know how it feels to be by yourself, chasing a dream that seems so far off, and the struggles to make it no matter what…
Truly I couldn’t have done this if I didn’t meet the friends and family I have now along the way. I’ve learned so much from the experiences and the people in this industry, it feels like my duty to help and pass along the information that can help others feel aligned in their dream.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road to becoming a successful model/actor is absolutely obscured and littered with hazards.
Some struggles I faced were not being able to pay my rent of $300.
An evil manager that ruined most of my life and modeling experiences from 2017-2020
Being stuck in Milan because I have no money
Dealing with self-loathe from not booking
The thousands of no’s I’ve gotten
There will be hazards and struggles on the journey to chasing a dream, but as a wrestler and the way I was raised, there is nothing that can stop me especially with the love and support from my friends and family
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a full time model and actor! I also stream video games to raise money for the Florida Autism Society! My mom and I spent much time helping others with special needs growing up in Florida, and that’s how I chose which charity to raise money for. My work is my life! I’ve studied hours of posing done by other professional models, worked my angles in the mirror, and practiced my facial expressions. I’ve dedicated a lot of time and money in pursuing and educating my self in the world of acting as well.
What I’m known for is runway shows, Guess billboard in LA, and shooting with Kendall Jenner for Vogue USA. It’s taken a lot of time and self love to say that I really do feel proud of myself and that’s there is more amazing things to come!
What matters most to you? Why?
Family, friends, love and the hustle. Those are 4 of pillars that have kept me focused in my goals and passions.
