Meet Amina Touray of Trustworthy Magazine

Today we’d like to introduce you to Trustworthy Magazine.

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have always been fascinated by visual arts and indulged myself in magazines. It has been my imaginary “escape” whenever I’ve flipped through pages that have beautiful images of; places around the world, foods, people, arts, and fashion. As a photographer & writer, I have been featured in a variety of publications. So after many years of meeting people that has had incredible stories to share, not just through the publications, but through my travels, arts and various adventures, I decided to create my own platform and publication which is dedicated to these people. It is dedicated to all the things mentioned above that I feel connected to. I wanted to name my publication something meaningful and decided to go with “Trustworthy” (Magazine), which is the meaning behind my name (Amina). Trustworthy Magazine represents authenticity. We strive to inspire people by talking about the trials and triumphs of life. We also allow; artists, entrepreneurs, businesses, organizations, and anyone that has something unique to share, a platform where they can express anything that is insightful and encouraging.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Both yes and no. There are definitely things that I’m still figuring out and that I’m working to improve. Meanwhile, I don’t stress about the little bumps on the road. I am enjoying the learning process and I’ve met great people along the way that have made it fun and interesting.

Trustworthy Magazine – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from others?
I am the editor in chief of Trustworthy Magazine. I specialize in photography and shoot the majority of the articles that we feature. I also do a lot of the interviews and write articles. I’ve been blessed to have some amazing people by my side in the process; such as my partner Moses Dalton that assists me on a lot of the shoots and does the page designs and illustrations. As well as my glam team Niehla O, Janel Styles, and Irma Vasquez, and an incredible freelance writer by the name Mia Lloyd. I’m proud of the quality of the pages and the material inside the magazine, as well as the relationships that I’ve built with other creatives that are just as passionate about their crafts as I am about mine. I think what sets me apart is that the quality of the content inside my magazine is more important to me than the deadline to have it published. For those reasons I’m sometimes even willing to extend a submission deadline to publish it a little later, in order to provide that ONE extra article that may inspire someone to quit the job they hate or travel to a place they’ve never been. I’m able to do that at this early stage.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Announcing and launching the magazine! I created all the content in the first issue that I ever published, which included; reaching out to people to organize photo shoots and interviews, providing photos, write, page layout and design, building the website, and so much more! I felt so ecstatic and proud when I held the final print in my hands.
