Meet Trust’N

Today we’d like to introduce you to Trust’N.

Trust’N, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My name is Christian Anderson but I go by the artist name Trust’N. I grew up in Madison, Wisconsin, with two older brothers and a twin sister. My passion at a young age was always sports until about my sophomore year of high school. At the age of 16, my passion changed to music when I started listening and free-styling to songs in the car with friends (16 is the age where you get your license so it makes sense haha). After a few months of freestyle rapping in almost every car ride my friends encouraged me to start writing my own music. I bought a mic and started writing, recording, mixing and mastering my own music. It wasn’t until about the age of 17 where I actually started to release music. At first, I was really bad. However, with each new release, I got better and better and eventually it led to the point where I started taking it seriously. As a senior in high school, I started playing shows and releasing music more consistently. I realized it was what I loved doing and wanted to do for the rest of my life. I lived and breathed music.

Over the years, I have grown a lot as an artist and a person. Now at the age of 20, I have hit over 3 million streams on Spotify alone and usually have a couple hundred thousand listeners month to month. Music was therapy for me early on and it was a way that I felt I could express myself better than in any way before. People didn’t take me seriously at all at first but I kept with it and I’ve been encouraged by so many people. I wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for music!

Has it been a smooth road?
Becoming the person I am today has not been easy at all. Along the way, I have dealt with a lot. I have had experiences of suicidal thoughts, depression, and anxiety all on top of heartbreak. Growing up in a religious school kept me sheltered from one real-world things. Once I was in a public high school, I was eager to try everything. This meant going through periods of drug addiction, alcoholism, and depression. These are things I have always struggled with but have been able to overcome. More recently, I have been dealing with heartbreak. My relationship with my ex was one that I thought would last a lifetime. She didn’t feel the same way and hurt me really bad by handling the whole situation immaturely. I have been steadily moving on but am still not my usual self. These experiences have allowed me to grow and I am very pleased with the person I am becoming!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Trust’N – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I am hip hop and pop artist as well as an entrepreneur. I am the head of PR for a small record label based in Madison, WI as well. My main focus is being an artist. My music is very unique from other people because I combine hip hop and pop a lot. This involves rapping over pop beats that would normally be sung on. This is evident on my songs Let You Be and Over Me both featuring Bridget Cooney. I am blessed to have also been able to make a name for myself through my music. I run a clothing brand called Lost Boy as well! We are going to be relaunching soon. As a senior in high school, I sold over 500 hats right out of my backpack to kids at my school. This why I have developed a passion for clothing and style. I am most proud of the amount of people I have been able to reach through my music.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the vibe the city creates. Once you get to LA, you just feel happier. The only thing I really dislike is the traffic. It can be hard to get around.
