Meet Tru Sound of FORTHEFUTURE in South Central Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tru Sound.

Tru Sound, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Persistence, discernment, and integrity. There’s a lot of ways to answer this – I think the story is still being written, I think where I am today is nearly a liminal/transitional space between awareness and discovery. I’m in a place of reflection right now, hibernation almost. I feel like the TRU known thus far, is about to be a memory in the journey. I’m in metamorphosis.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road is never smooth, its like the highway. Potholes, surprise swerves, inclines, downhill speed. Life has always presented opportunities to test my limits and grow out of comfort zones. I used to dread moments like those, now I am always looking to be more open, receptive, and adaptive when I reach those times. Creative blocks, financial blocks, emotional blocks, Personal struggles with friends and family/…you can’t really avoid or go around those things. I’ve learned to just go through it while leaving space for other activities and projects to occupy my mind, like finishing my play or working on paintings. Using my creativity to communicate or think through situations.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about FORTHEFUTURE – what should we know?
FORTHEFUTURE is a multi-media production company. In 2014 I got started handling the executive production/distribution and artist development of a few local artist’ so music projects and curating collaborative efforts between artist across the states. Through this initiative, I’ve been blessed to produce, record and distribute records with some of my greatest friends and our favorite artist. People like Crystal Mec, Carter Ace, Chrystophersen, along as artist I find myself looking up to like Daylyt, Raury, and more. Beyond the music, our company has specialized in event and radio programming, Innovating experiences for our audiences to engage with and listen to art and music. What distinguishes my company from the rest, is the way I curate our artist and projects in correlation with social awareness of what’s changing and affecting the greater world around us, it is the philosophy which drives us, one that places the value of community much higher than that of the individual agenda. We believe in creating safe spaces for community to build and expand, for that is the only true way we can shift a culture forward. A lot of time has been spent lately focusing on ways to stay connected and engaged with community in these transitional times, as well as innovative ways to keep people excited about work and projects to come. We are also working on expanding our presence globally, with recent partnerships in New York, Atlanta, London, Paris and next, Belize. I’m excited for what’s to come and cannot wait to reveal when the time is right.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Compassion and Vision.
