Meet Tristan Coopersmith of Life Lab in Hermosa Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tristan Coopersmith.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Tristan. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
When I found myself on my bathroom floor, door locked, ala Elizabeth Gilbert in Eat Pray Love… I knew something in my life had to shift. So the next day, with sheer impulsivity and just enough of a sprinkle of faith, I quit my highly desirable, glamorous and successful career as a trend forecaster. Destination completely unknown.

Through a process of intense soul searching, my next step became grad school. Leveraging my love of attitudinal and behavioral insights along with my own beautiful mess of life trauma, I intended to become a healer as a psychotherapist. But what it turns out I was destined for was a bit different.

Fast forward 6 years later and the idea of Life Lab was born… purely out of a selfish desire to create a space to connect with other bold, beautiful women who wanted to create lives that they were unapologetically madly in love with, I built the sanctuary now known today as Life Lab. Combining the 3 pillars of my own personal growth journey, mindfulness, creativity and soul work, Life Lab offers fresh, vibrant, inspiring, head and heart provoking experiences for women to connect, support and celebrate each other, develop an unshakable core of self-love and commitment to personal development, surrender to a calmer, more mindful and intentional life… and have fun through immersive and creative activities.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The Life Lab path has been the most extraordinary adventure! Starting a new business is incredibly emotionally chaotic… from exhilarating to terrifying and everything in between. Whereas every technical challenge seems to have a clear solution, the emotional ones don’t… So I’d say the most challenging piece has been riding out that emotional ride using faith and optimism as the fuel. And secondly, surrendering to the fact that I can’t effectively wear all of the hats and need to let go a bit… I’m still learning that one 🙂

Life Lab – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Life Lab is a women’s sanctuary offering experiences in meditation, creativity and soul work. We offer unique, fun, opportunities for healing, growth and connection in a beautiful space that is as energizing as it is calming. We are a modern spiritual hotspot whereby women who are invested in their own self-love and growth can come and find solace, inspiration, new and old friends and so much more.

We offer a range of experiences from meditation (a variety of styles offered, including sound baths and new moon manifestation rituals) to creativity (such as mala necklaces, dreamcatchers, organic beauty products, vision boarding, card making) to soulwork (such as radical self-image acceptance, women’s hormone workshops, book clubs, goal setting, cultivating happiness and mindful parenting).

We are known for offering unique, meaningful, actionable experiences that help to light up our student’s lives and develop self-love, growth, connection and inspiration. Simply, Life Lab is a gym for the spirit; a green juice for the soul.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Our first full class. To see Life Lab filled with amazing women… women who were creating lives that they felt proud of an energized by… come together and learn and grow and support each other all the while having fun… it was magic.
