Meet Trishna

Today we’d like to introduce you to Trishna.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Trishna. So, let’s start at the beginning, and we can move on from there.
I was born in India and adopted to an Ohio-based family when I was just a year old.

Church, school, and local competitions were the foundation of my training throughout my childhood. I later graduated as a vocalist from one of the top-rated contemporary music colleges in the world, Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. Since graduating, I have worked with several different producers, managers, and artists.

I am humbled to say that I have had performances of the National Anthem for the NFL and NBA, performances at the Grammy Office in NY, throughout different venues in Boston, NY, and LA, accompanied by performances in film and television.

I am currently working on the release of my new EP, and my new original music video was just released this past Valentine’s Day 2019. I am also co-creating/writing a new television series. Trying to live my passion and share my soul one day at a time!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has been an amazing journey, but definitely not a smooth road. Like Lebron James says, “Nothing is given. Everything is earned.” For me, one of the toughest obstacles was being adopted from India to an all-white family in an all-white hometown.

Growing up in a small town in Ohio around a lot of closed-minded individuals was not easy. I was lucky enough to have loving parents and a few close friends – which got me through a lot. Not only was I the only colored girl in my school… but on top of that, I loved singing and performing (and let’s just say… not everyone was happy when I got to perform).

Sadly, I didn’t even realize exactly how closed-minded most people were until I went to college and started feeling the jealousy and pure hatred – all because I left my small hometown to chase my dreams. I received hate mail from many people in my hometown and even from my own family members. I was referred to by the “n” word many times. Trust me… this interview would go on for hours with the disgusting stories I could tell.

The most important thing is that I turned it all into something positive, whether that be through my songwriting or social media. My goal has turned into hoping to inspire others, especially young woman of color, that are going through the same struggles. I’m hoping my story can help them get through those dark times as well.

We’d love to hear more about what you do.
I am a musician, actress, model, songwriter, athlete… I love fashion… I don’t like to put a box around anything. My goal has always remained the same: to share my passion and soul with the world through my art. What sets me apart is that I’m a sassy gal from India, and she here and ready to work! ::flips hair::

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I wouldn’t be where I am today if it were not for the training and experience I received at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. The friends I made there really helped me get through the tough times and helped me to focus on putting pen to paper when it came to letting my feelings out.

My parents have been very supportive of allowing me to keep pursuing my dreams. They have never missed a game or performance. There are just a few very special people in my life (and they know who they are) that help me to be me.
