Today we’d like to introduce you to Trevor Tordjman.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Trevor. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I grew up dancing at my mother’s dance studio in southern Ontario, Canada. Since before I can remember I’ve felt at home on stage and quickly developed a passion for performing. I was too “cool” for ballet until I realized how important it was, so I was always behind technically. Committing to what the pieces called for emotionally was all I had against the other dancers. I was scouted by an agent when I was 12, but my parents worked full-time couldn’t commit to traveling into the Toronto every day to pursue 5-second auditions, so we only went to the big ones.
I booked a role on a dance series called The Next Step that changed my life. I went on to play a lead on four seasons, direct 1 episode, and choreograph three international tours. It was this series that made my love for acting for film clear. I then committed myself to pursue a career in acting and moved my business to Hollywood. I then secured the role of Bucky on Disney Channel Original Musical ZOMBIES and just wrapped up on the sequel. My biggest goal in my career is to create Film & TV. I want to be a part of projects from the inception of the idea. My first effort in that direction is the creation of What’s Up North. A satirical/sketch comedy digital series I co-created for IGTV!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Pursuing a career in film as an actor is always a hustle. There’s no right or wrong answer and you never know what’s next. You’re always struggling with the voice in your head saying you’re not doing enough or not good enough.
If you love it enough…it’s worth it.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
Recently playing the role of Bucky on ZOMBIES has made me understand my love for comedy. I love comedy and would say I am known for being able to find comedy in any piece of material.
I am currently most proud What’s Up North. It’s the first thing that I’ve starred in and been a part of creating, which is really exciting for me. If I can do that for the rest of my career I’ll be content.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Just sheer love for the craft. Loving it so much is what makes all the hard work that comes with it worth it.
The only other thing that is almost just as important is the perseverance to keep going. There are always going to be huge lulls where it feels like nothing is happening and it’s those times that require the determination to stay in it.
It’s when preparation meets opportunity.
