Travis, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Ranksharks was inspired by the struggles that I faced as a young entrepreneur and today we’ve grown into a team of passionate marketers and worked with over 4,000 small, medium, and name brand businesses nationwide. I’ve launched quite a few business ventures throughout the years and have applied my experiences to the development of Ranksharks services. As a young entrepreneur, my greatest challenges revolved around marketing strategy. I found it very difficult to focus on a marketing strategy in an ever-evolving digital world, while simultaneously scaling my business. Ranksharks was founded with the primary goal of helping small to medium sized businesses navigate the (intimidating) world of digital marketing. Our goal as a digital marketing firm is to be an extension of all the companies we work with. We try very hard to bring on b2b customers that we’re passionate about. We believe that the shared passion in any marketing campaign is one of the many important keys to success.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
We’ve faced our fair share of challenges. We’re now entering our 6th year in business so I feel that we’ve crossed over most of the major hurdles that newer businesses face. In this industry, the landscape changes daily as the digital world moves at 10x the speed of traditional marketing. The most challenging part of our business has always been to adapt and move forward… at the speed of light! Our team’s done a tremendous job adapting to that ever-changing landscape. Over the years, we’ve put a heavy focus on continued education, re-training, and re-certification in all the platforms that we work on. This allows us to stay on the cutting edge of technology and utilize the latest tools available to marketers, for all our small business clients.

Ranksharks specializes in digital marketing for businesses of all kinds across the United States. We put a focus on earned search, earned social media, and paid social media. We work with platforms like Facebook, Google, and Twitter. We’re known for our personalized and passionate approach to digital marketing. We’re most proud of creating a marketing agency that shares the passion with all our clients. All too often, marketing agencies use a cookie cutter approach to cut costs and increase profits. Our team has worked very hard to carefully strategize, select and retain our clients – We’re excited about every single one of them! Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Luck is usually an unspoken word amongst successful entrepreneurs. They’ll tell you about how hard they’ve worked and how smart they are, but rarely how lucky they were. Although I’ve worked very hard in my life and do consider myself intelligent, I’d be the first to admit that luck has played a major role in my success. The way that I see success is basically just drilling away at something non-stop until you get lucky. You must try and fail repeatedly, and eventually you’ll have your moment. Let your guard down, however, and you’ll miss that very small window of opportunity.

I know what it’s like to have a business idea that you’re incredibly passionate about but seems nearly impossible to bring to reality – You want to give up all the time! I want to inspire young entrepreneurs to not give up and to keep pushing until the door opens.
