Meet Trailblazer Tara George

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tara George.

Tara, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was born in Iraq and moved to America as a child. I was always getting up on stage to sing and dance ever since I was little. That just grew with me and I fell in love with music and acting. Growing up in Detroit, I was inspired by the musical history the city has. I performed at clubs across Detroit and Canada and did tours until I decided to move to LA and really go for it. The journey to my dreams has been incredible, both good and bad lots of ups and down, but ive learned so much and I have grown so much because of it.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Los Angeles is expensive. Juggling your dreams, work, and being able to survive out here has been the biggest challenge. So many times, I had to do jobs I didn’t like, just so I can continue to live here and do what I love. To the women who come out here trying to do the same my best advice to you is to stay focused. Remember why you came here. There are a lot of distractions out here and people get lost. Find a mentor that will guide you.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am a sag/aftra actor and also a singer-songwriter. My acting credits are on IMDB and I have two songs out on all streaming services “Not Alone” and “No More.” I will be working on more music this summer and im excited to share more music with the world. Follow me on Instagram @iamtarageorge. I am so proud of my drive and how Ive made it through so many obstacles. What sets me apart is my story and my purpose which you will know more about through the projects im working on.

Do you recommend any apps, books or podcasts that have been helpful to you?
One of my favorite books is “the alchemist” because the story is so beautiful, especially for dreamers who go on these journeys to make those dreams come true.

For music, I am with BMI publishing and stream my music on Spotify, iTunes, tidal and all other platforms.
