Meet Trailblazer Maxie Haase

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maxie Haase.

Maxie, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I grew up playing sports and always loved being active. During my last few years of college, I was not as active as normal and it wasn’t until after I graduated that I fell in love with fitness again. I was working for the Sacramento Kings when I started indoor cycling and weight lifting. I became obsessed and decided I wanted to teach cycling. I ended up moving to Orange County where I began teaching indoor cycling in addition to my full-time job. I decided to make the switch to fitness full time when I was accepted to soulcycle training in New York last September. After training in New York, I moved back to LA and now teach full-time at soulcycle at part-time at box union. I love both of my jobs and also personal train on the side.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
My journey has been exciting and challenging. Moving to New York for soulcycle was definitely a financial burden and now that I am back as an instructor, I drive a lot every single day in order to teach all over LA and also Orange County. They say the first year of instructing is the hardest; my advice for anyone coming into the industry would be to say yes as much as you can and try to save a little bit of time every day for yourself. My career is very rewarding but can also be draining since you give so much of your energy to others; on the bright side, you get what you give and my riders/boxers fill me up every day.

Please tell us about SoulCycle/BoxUnion – what should we know?
I think something that sets me apart in my industry is my music/playlist selections. I spend a lot of time sourcing new music/remixes and always work to have a fresh set for my riders/boxers. My workouts are beat-based and I love to make the music we move to exciting, dramatic and fun.

Which women have inspired you in your life?
I am very inspired by my mom. She has worked in fitness my entire life and it’s exciting to see how my life is paralleling hers.

What a journey you are on , Maxie. It was such a pleasure taking your Soul Cycle class and witnessing first hand your confidence and inspiration. You are so good with people also and you welcome everyone to do their best and mostly have FUN. As your Mom, I know how hard you work at this and I am sure your followers do too. Keep listening to your intuitions and follow your heart.
