Meet Trailblazer Jasmine Lang

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Lang.

Jasmine , let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am a Los Angeles native, born & raised. I have always had a curiosity and love for nature. During a time of searching for freedom and wanting to break away from my daily routine. I decided to move to the beautiful green redwoods in Humboldt, CA. I wanted to be in nature, away from the city, and feel more connected. Humboldt has some of the most beautiful redwoods and trees you’d ever see. I spent a lot of time buying plants, shopping at local stores, understanding the value of natural resources. I have always been a mixer and a maker. I began to make my own natural remedies beginning with hair care and later to skin care. I started giving friends more insight into what concoctions works best for what. I realized my quest for freedom had also developed the foundation for my business. I started with a whole body care routine I made for my mom for mother’s day including body cream, toner, and scrub. After that, my mom invested the first $500 in my inspiration that soon became LYL Body Care.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My business has been the one thing that I remain committed to, even when I am tired, uninspired, and maybe not seeing the results I’d like. I remain committed, I find a way to connect with my love for what I do over and over again. I believe my business has become a part of who I am, and losing it would be losing a part of me, and that is not an option. So, in moments when I am struggling, I take a step back, I reserve space for other things that inspire me that always lead me right back to LYL. LYL is my way of feeling connected to myself, others, and life itself. Find something that you can build a giving and receiving relationship with. Something that you can put your all into, but also pours into you as well. Enjoy the creative side, and don’t put to much pressure on yourself in the beginning, allow your passion to unfold and stay in the flow.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am the creator of LYL Body Care, a Los Angeles based brand that provides handmade natural body care products that are made with plant-based butters, oils, and herbs. I take pride in making products that make people feel good and also provide therapeutic healing. Each product has the ability to relieve, uplift, or inspire the person using it. LYL is mindful that the body, the mind, and the spirit are all connected in one, so I create products that allow you to nourish your body, while also connecting to your mind & spirit.

We’re interested to hear your thoughts on female leadership – in particular, what do you feel are the biggest barriers or obstacles?
I see female leadership on the rise & I am totally here for it, hunny! The beauty industry is really dominated by women, but I wouldn’t consider my brand straight beauty, I’d like to say it’s more on the holistic healing side. The self-care industry is also definitely something that is a huge market right now. I think in general as women we always struggle with the idea of having it all. Being able to have a family, run a business, maybe even a wife, friend, sister, daughter. I think women we struggle with finding balance in all of those things. We are natural nurtures and want to take care of everything, LYL is a reminder that we also need to take care of ourselves. I think all women should find their voice in their leadership and stand in it! Learning to trust and find your voice will be the foundation of your business.
