Today we’d like to introduce you to Iris Peretz.
Iris, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Immigrated from Israel to Canada at age 8 and from Canada to the USA in my 3os. I love people, beach travel and art. My professional background is in Advertising and business start-ups. Art is my passion. I love to see how art unites and ignites people and our shared humanity. Recently, I have been able to return to school full time and complete a fine arts degree at CSUN as well as pursue the arts full time. I love painting murals, making sculptures out of anything and everything and just plain painting contemporary pieces. My style is current and experimental. I am more interested in the process than the final result.
Has it been a smooth road?
Challenges are just opportunities for learning. I don’t focus on problems. I prefer to find solutions. I always see the cup as half full.
What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of? What sets you apart from others?
I love people and places and that which gives people joy and engages the community while respecting the environment. My paintings, sculptures, murals, and public art projects embrace organic shapes and consist of mixed mediums that speak to our shared moment in time. I like to use recycled, up-cycled and found objects as a shout out to mother nature. I respect living things and honor life in my spirited pieces. My color palette is bold, colorful and joyous. Every piece I make contains a deeper message and intentionally communicates to the viewer. My art sparks conversation, humor, and contemplation.
Which women have inspired you in your life?
There are so many to mention. I am inspired by every woman who manages to share her gifts and exudes love no matter what life throws at her. I am most inspired by our youth and especially by my daughters Kathleen, Jessica and Shoshana for being strong and compassionate and for changing the world with their hearts.
