Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabrielle Corney.
Gabrielle, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I decided at the age of 15 that I wanted to be a hairstylist. I even tried to sign myself out of high school to attend beauty school. A year and a half later I had a baby and with the help of a supportive family I attended and graduated beauty school at 19. Hopped from salon to salon until I found a salon home where I actually landed my very celebrity client. I enjoyed working in the entertainment industry but the jobs were far and few in between until I reconnected with an old friend who was a recording artist signed to major record label. That’s when everything changed. I traveled the world did countless music videos concerts awards shows magazines and TV shows and the rest is history
Has it been a smooth road?
The road to success has been far from smooth. Learning the ins and outs of the entertainment industry has been quite the challenge. I am happy God blessed me when I was a bit wiser not Aire if I would have been able to handle the obstacles without that experience. I advise young women that life can be a bit of a roller coaster. Whether up or down get in the front car and put your hands up!
We’d love to hear more about Hairstylist 2 the stars.
I am a celebrity hairstyling and beauty expert for print film and television. I am a healthy hair enthusiast. I enjoying helping women nature and embrace they’re own hair and sometimes have fun with some extra. I am most proud of the connections that develop naturally from being a nurturer. It’s important that women feel as good as they look when they leave. I think that’s what sets me apart. I genuinely care
We’re interested to hear your thoughts on female leadership – in particular, what do you feel are the biggest barriers or obstacles?
Generally women especially women of color always have to do 10 x’s more and be 1000 x’s better in order to be given the recognition that we deserve. Which often goes hand in hand with getting paid less.
