Today we’d like to introduce you to Traci Pomeroy and Jason Reynolds.
Traci and Jason, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
With my story, I don’t know about briefly but here we go!
Sadly after 20 years of marriage and a 23 year relationship divorce was the inevitable end. My divorce was brutal, as I have learned so many are. Being married to and divorcing an attorney, especially after being a stay at home mom for over 20 years, did not make it any easier. Quite the opposite, so brutal!!
When I asked my ex for a separation he was stunned. I soon became more stunned by his behavior. Divorce or separation was the farthest thing from his mind. According to him, life was great! His narcissism made it impossible for him to acknowledge his faults as a husband and father. He was verbally abusive to me and the children. He was so condescending, aloof and emotionally unavailable. As the children got older I found it harder to make excuses for his abusive behavior. Much to my surprise, I was in such denial I didn’t even realize I had been justifying and making excuses for him for years now.
After a two year battle, I left the marriage with an unfair divorce settlement. Feeling like a soldier after the battle, I was unsure what to do next. He had always been there controling things and making all the decisions. Now I was on my own for the very first time. What to do? My attorney referred me to a financial planner, Jason Reynolds of Collaborative Financial Consulting (CFC). I cried many tears in our initial meetings.
That is when I realized Jason was my salvation. He was more than just a financial planner. Jason was a wise person with mor compassion for his clients than I could imagine. His helpfulness was only out shined by his financial knowledge. After being in a scary place for so long, with so many unknowns, finding CFC seemed like salvation.
Being on my own for the first time in my adult life a t 46 was beyond scary. I needed to find a job, but what to do? I wanted to work with numbers and people. School was not working out for me. I was feeling lost again when at a financial planning meeting my future was born. Jason needed ann assistant, I wanted to work with numbers and people, perfect fit!
After dealing with me and my divorce situation, Jason was moved to help other woment in my position. There was nothing more inspiring to me, then and now, than his idea of empowering other divorced women. Women nine times out of 10 ar e referred to as the out spouse (not having dealt with money/finances during the marriage). That can be a paralyzing fear when you feel like you don’t know what life has next for you.
Divorce is such a demoralizing process. Life seems like it will never be joyful or fulfilling again. Happily, that is not the truth! Working with other women to help them start out on a solid financial foundation is more rewarding than I ever could have imagined. Doing the work towards empowering other women who have been through a difficult life transition makes everything I went through make sense.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
After not working for over 20 years, going back into the working world was a true adjustment. Going from a marriage where everything was taken care of for me to being on my own for the first time was scary and exciting! During the past few years, I have had some major health issues while trying to get back into the working world made things even more difficult.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Collaborative Financial Consulting – what should we know?

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Dedication to help others not to have to go through what I went through has given me such passion for helping others to feel empowered. This is such a passion for me because I know it is possible. I am now an independent, strong, confident, empowered woman. That is a far cry from where I was when I met Jason.
