Today we’d like to introduce you to Alyssa Hudson.
There are many makeup artists who knew that they wanted to be makeup artists since they were children, and certainly many of them keep the passion alive and grow up to be great makeup artists. What’s rare is finding a makeup artist that gave up so much to become a makeup artist. Alyssa was on her way to having a comfortable life in the ivy towers of academia. She graduated from Syracuse with a degree in psychology and was planning to pursue her Ph.D. in clinical psychology. Then she decided that rather than spend her life doing something she was only marginally interested in doing she took a huge risk, walked away from academics and moved to LA to become a makeup artist.
Alyssa’s services include beauty/special event makeup, wedding makeup, and special effects makeup. She offers makeup for home makeovers, proms, homecomings, red-carpet looks, and men’s cosmetics. She creates natural, evening, and glamorous looks to fit any occasion and provides wedding makeup for the bride, bridal party, mother of the bride, as well as the groom. She even provides consultation services before your big day and is available for touch-ups at the reception.
Her special effects services include camera-ready makeup, blood tubing and trauma makeups, creature creations, and appliance application for photo shoots, short & feature films, and theatre productions, haunted houses, as well as Halloween parties.
“Working in special effects, is an area that is unique and often times requires special training. Working in beauty has only strengthened my special effects work because there are aspects of beauty makeup that are in special effects. Also, men’s cosmetics is something that most people do not think of when considering beauty makeup, but it is an area of makeup that should be considered.”
And last, but definitely not least – she uses top of the line, vegan products. #cruelty-free #FTW
Pricing:
Pricing varies from client to client. There are base rates for each makeup service but depending on travel time, the makeup look, band lashes vs. individual lashes, etc., the price may increase. The ballpark is $99-250.
