Meet Tony Rodrigues of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tony Rodrigues

Hi Tony, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hey, my name is Tony Rodrigues, I’m a 20 year old Guitar Player pursuing a career in Music and as an Artist. Born and raised in Brazil, I picked up guitar at the age of 11, and by the time I was 13, I had been exposed to a lot of virtuoso modern guitar styles, so I decided to take music seriously and go after my dream of moving to California and being a successful musician. Although I’m the only musician in my family, they saw my passion for guitar and were always very supportive of me. For a long time we worked hard and saved up a lot for me to be to follow that dream and come to study at The Musicians Institute in Los Angeles, which I did in 2022, so I’ll always be eternally grateful for them.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitively has not been a smooth road. Besides the difficulties of moving to another country, being away from family and friends, comparison and self-doubt were always things that struggled with a lot. It’s really common us musicians to feel this way, specially because LA is filled with so many high-skilled players, so the more time I spend here, the more I’m able to develop as a person and as a musician, learning how to better deal with those feelings and work on my path.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in social media, developing my name in the “Guitar Influencer” world. I’ve been dedicated towards the internet market for over 5 years, showing my technical skills and creativity as a modern style guitar player. It definitively has opened many doors for me, including my partnership with Tagima, and other companies such as Lace Pickups and Strumland. I also put a lot of work in my own projects as an artist, playing sessions around LA and my work with the modern metal band Dead Marble.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
For musicians who are just starting out, my advice is try to find your passion within the music. There are many career paths you can take as a musician, so try to find what you like to do the most and focus on that. I mentioned previously that sometimes we compare ourselves a lot, but you don’t need to be the best at everything. I believe that if you’re able to find your own path, you’re gonna be great at it, because you’re being truthful to yourself, doing what you love the most. Everyone has their own struggles, their own journey, you just need to follow your heart and focus on yours.
