Meet Tom Bercu in Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tom Bercu.

Tom, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Growing up in Cleveland there wasn’t much to do, so when my parents went out of town, I’d either go cow tipping, or I’d have huge parties at my house. In San Francisco – where I moved after college – there were not as many cows, so I continued the party throwing and volunteering for non-profits on their events teams. I was working in commercial real estate leasing and development at the time and was not finding it to be all that creative or satisfying, so I started free-lancing as a production assistant for large event companies. Ultimately, I worked my way up to forming my own company in 2007 and now I get to fly around the world throwing much larger parties at much more exciting venues than my parent’s basement.

Has it been a smooth road?
Everything has its bumps, and I definitely have some good stories to tell… But as I’m not doing rocket science, solving world hunger, or finding a cure for cancer – my struggles are very job-specific and though stressful at the time, would not have caused the end of the world for humanity – just the end of my business…

We’d love to hear more about your business.
My company is my pride as it is a testament to my creativity, my organization, my work ethic, my life ethic, and my – as we Jews say – chutzpah. I am the rainmaker, the creative director, and the payroll department.
Tom Bercu Presents has far more to offer than just your ordinary event company. We pride ourselves in partnering to deliver creative live events that are powerful and pack the WOW clients demand. We are connoisseurs in our craft and produce creative solutions for our clients’ live marketing and hospitality needs. As you get to know us, you will find that we are a collaborative event marketing and hospitality production team. We work with our clients to deliver powerful live experiences that speak to their target audience, and make their customers fall in love with their brand. But then again, isn’t that what everyone says? Maybe so, but our record of success speaks for itself. We’ve been producing award-winning experiences since 2007 for some of the world’s top Fortune 500 companies.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I think LA is as good of a city as anywhere for any young professional to cut their teeth – maybe even more so because of its size. LA’s entrepreneurial side can serve as a catalyst to those who have the drive and the tenacity to succeed. But due to LA’s diversity and size – there is an enormous amount of competition, so if one is not on their game, the city will not be an easy place to navigate. LA has great resources to learn from so long as one is willing to take the time to learn the trade and grow. I think the city sometimes fosters the notion of easy fame and success – It thrives on “who you know, not what you know”.
