Today we’d like to introduce you to Todd Tisdell.
Todd, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
We are an award-winning, family-owned brewery. We started in 2015 and have been growing steadily ever since. We went through an expansion in 2017 and are in the process of going through another expansion to complete in 2021.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a smooth road until COVID 19 hit. The rules that are in place regarding operation in the county of LA are far more restrictive than the rules for the rest of the state. We are not allowed to open our taproom at all, even for outdoor seating. The rest of the state allows breweries to partner with 3rd party food vendors (food Trucks, caterers…) and open for outdoor seating. It is very frustrating trying to operate under these conditions when a customer can drive into any of our neighboring counties and get the experience they are looking for.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Pocock Brewing Company – what should we know?
We are an award-winning brewery, having garnered medals from LA international Beer Comp, San Diego International Beer Comp, California State Beer Comp, US Open beer Championship and GABF. We are known for being a West Coast brewery with a traditional English spin. We are also well know for out Tart Smoothie Fruit Beers, Trade Secrets. We take the time to build the best beer from the right ingredients with serious attention to detail.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
“Embrace Life. Drink Good Beer.” it’s printed on every can of beer we sell. We have to make good beer foremost. Artwork on cans, personality in the taproom, great prices all will only take you so far.
