Today we’d like to introduce you to Timothy Milton.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Timothy. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
It all started in high school. I stumbled upon taking a class in film. Its quite funny how it all played out because what I thought would not be in my interest at all became what I loved to learn. After a year and a half of taking film classes I started to look into colleges that offer media courses. I then started to notice that this was my passion and had been given my first dslr (Nikon D3100). I started shooting music videos, interviews, etc. Shortly after I have started learning photography on YouTube and was on my way to create my first production business. I got where I am today by learning new techniques and skills that improved my production value and connecting with others in my industry.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has definitely not been a smooth road for me. I had to learn through massive trial and error. As an entrepreneur, you have to take risks and in this industry, it can make or break you. I had to get out of my comfort zone and get out there and network and make myself known. I had clients bail on me last minute and clients who seem promised to book me and don’t and so on. It’s really frustrating at times but that’s how I learned to look into my market and study my audience more carefully. Overall my business had to get beat up a little bit for me to dig deeper in my business model and figure out how to improve it.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with TDMProductions – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I specialize in film and photography, but I’m mostly known for my photography work (Fashion street photography). As a company, I am most proud of the motives I bring. I try to not call my clients “Clients” but friends. I want to connect with those who book me for there wedding or model shoot. I ask questions such as, “How did you two meet?” & “How did you feel when he proposed to you” or “What made you look into modeling” and so on. I take this approach because I don’t center it around me for I am more interested in you! That right there I feel sets me apart from others.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
What I have planned for the future is huge! I will have my own production building that will have the latest gear and resources available. I plan to help other up coming entrepreneurs that are looking to build their businesses in the same industry. I will have after school studies here as well for students that can come and further their knowledge in the film and photography business. I have more visions but those are to name a few! Overall, I truly desire to see people prosperous in their creative field.
