Thanks for sharing your story with us Tiffany. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was on the hunt for a very unique gift for close friend of mine who was pregnant. I wanted something very special. A gift no one else would be giving her. (yeah, I’m that friend LOL) As mother of 2, I realize how many things you need for a new baby. I wanted her gift to be not only memorable but useful as well. I had received a diaper cake when I was pregnant with my daughter. I loved the concept of a diaper cake but everything I found on the internet was cheesy and not my taste. I decided to try to make my own for her. It turned out better than I expected. I took it to her shower and all the women wanted to know where I had gotten it. When I said I made it, everyone was shocked! I started making kakes for friends, family and people who would see the kakes at showers and order them from me. Everyone told me I had to make a business of this wonderful idea. The kakes would be the biggest hit at the shower and everyone would be talking about them. They ended up being the centerpiece of the shower! Since I continued to get so many order word of mouth, I decided it was time to turn the hobby I loved into a business.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been a difficult road since I do not have a business background. I grew up modeling form the age of 17. Traveling the world and ending up here in LA. I literally have no experience in this area, I am learning as I go with everything. I have done it all on my own, from designing and building the kakes, shopping for all the ingredients, marketing, social media, wholesale, packaging, logo, building my website and everything in between. I started the company without a lot of capital to invest. I’ve had to do everything all by myself with next to no budget. There have been a lot of ups and downs, not to mention a lot of lessons learned. It’s been a fun, rewarding experience and now my hard work is finally paying off. Another big challenge for me besides running the business alone is I am also a single mother of 2.

I am very proud to say that KTLA 5 called to ask me if they could feature the company on the news. They found us on line while doing research for a diaper charity drive they were having. They said they loved what I was doing and had never seen anything like it. They said I was taking diaper cakes to another level. They asked me to come on and talk about it. I made a special kake for the charity event to remind people to donate. It was a wonderful experience and definitely one of our proudest moments.

I am inspired to help people celebrate one of the most incredible moments in their life, welcoming tiny new person to the world. With my passion for creating, attention to detail, my out of the box vision, determination, hard work and most importantly a positive, grateful attitude.
