Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Jumaily, MD.
Dr. Jumaily, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I have always loved interacting with children: they experience the world through fresh inquisitive eyes. I knew from the beginning of my medical training at Boston University that I wanted to work in the field of pediatrics. In residency at Brown University in Providence, I fell in love with primary care. There is something really special about building relationships with families and watching children grow. Our family decided to take the plunge and move to the West Coast 2 years ago, and we have been enjoying all that Southern California has to offer. Our
two young daughters love exploring the beaches and playing in the sunshine all year long. Roxbury Pediatrics is a thriving pediatric practice where we aim to make our patients feel welcome and loved. My goal is not only to help my patients get better when they are sick but to truly be well. Wellness encompasses the entirety of health: nutrition, exercise, stress, environment, social relationships, interests, etc. During wellness checkups, I spend time getting to know my patients and allow them time to be more comfortable with me. With a trusting relationship, I can work with teenagers to empower them in making healthy decisions. Sharing a good relationship between patients (and their parents) with their pediatrician is instrumental in providing effective care.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There have been challenges, as with all new ventures. We moved a few times before settling in LA, and each time, it takes some adjusting to feel settled in the new location. However, we maintain focus by remaining focused on our mission statement of providing excellent care while building relationships to achieve wellness. We are so grateful to have caring staff who strive to make every patient experience special and fun, and wonderful patients that make our days so fulfilling.
Please tell us about Roxbury Pediatrics.
We are a pediatric practice that cares for children from birth through the early 20s. We are honored that we have the opportunity to watch our patients grow from infants into mature adults. We will be your baby’s pediatrician from birth; and will care for your baby before leaving the hospital. Upon arrival to the office, you will be greeted by one of our friendly staff members, where children can play and feel comfortable. We have a separate entrance, waiting room and exam rooms for our sick patients, to prevent illnesses from spreading.
We offer same-day visits for our patients and have Saturday office hours. We pride ourselves on individualized care and spend time with each patient to listen to any concerns and questions. Whenever possible, we integrate lifestyle, nutrition, and mind-body balance to minimize use of medication. Whole health and wellness is more than the absence of illness, and we address all the elements of health at our visits, to ensure that we are doing everything we can so our patients can thrive.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
It was a funny turn of events that eventually brought us to Los Angeles. We have loved living here, and I only wish we had been able to come sooner! I am so happy that my girls will be able to grow up here, enjoying all that this area has to offer.
