Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Coffman.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was a young single black mother that had a child with a speech impediment, and only made $11 dollars an hour. I found a school with a 9:1 ratio, but I couldn’t afford $800.00 a month. I made some calls to friends that worked in the entertainment industry, so I could earn some extra money. They offered to help pay for the school, but I wanted my own money. I always believed that I could only depend on myself. My friends in Chicago so happened to know Poke and Tone from Trackmasterz in New York. They showed me how to write contracts and book after parties for the artist. The first artist was Jay-Z on the Sprite Remix tour, and that opened the door wide open for me with club owners. I traveled to New York, using my rent money with the hopes of meeting more industry contacts. This was the beginning of a wave, and for people to take me seriously.
Has it been a smooth road?
Nothing in life happens easy, I was a young mother trying to navigate business, take classes, and raising my daughter was a constant struggle. I would often feel guilty about my career. When I was staying in New York working, a kid asked my daughter if I had moved and that hurt me. I never wanted my daughter to feel I wasn’t there I needed her to know everything I did was so she could have the best life possible. That call ignited me to learn how to take on bigger contracts, so I spent many hours in Barnes and Nobles reading business books.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Los Angeles has been the primary source of my business for over ten years without me even having to be here. Los Angeles is a place where you could live your wildest dreams the more love you show to the city the more it pours back into you. If you can make it in LA, you can make it anywhere, beginning any business venture out in the city of angels will give you the grit it takes to make it on your own.
