Hi The Negrete Family, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My husband, Jaime Negrete, and I, Cindy Negrete, have been musicians all our lives, so when we met, it was clear that we wanted to raise a family that would carry on our love for music. When our daughter, Heloisa Negrete, was born, we noticed her passion for music, particularly the drums. She started learning to play at the age of five, practicing for an hour every day after kindergarten. Eventually, we decided to upload a video of her playing on TikTok. To our surprise, the video went viral, and we quickly amassed 1 million followers in just three months. Since then, we have continued to share our musical journey on various social media platforms.
Our family has had the privilege of performing at various events and venues, such as UC Riverside, the Tamale Festival, local parades, community gatherings, and private parties. Our son, JJ, is the heart and soul of our band, often stealing the show with his impressive Michael Jackson dance moves. Although he is just starting to show his love for singing, he has already learned two songs. Heloisa also enjoys singing and aspires to become a famous drummer like her role model, Sheila E, who inspires her to work hard and believe that anything is possible.
My husband serves as the teacher in our family, passing down his knowledge of various instruments to the rest of us. As the singer and bass drum player, I contribute my talents alongside Heloisa’s drumming skills to create our unique sound. We enjoy taking different styles of songs and infusing them with Banda influences, making music that truly represents our family’s passion and unity.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Overall, our journey has been enjoyable, but it requires significant effort and commitment to continuously improve. Creating content and choosing songs isn’t effortless; we collaborate and brainstorm as a family to deliver the best possible results. Heloisa practices diligently every day, and JJ is following in her footsteps.
While our path may appear smooth, it has been challenging to ensure that our kids remain passionate about music and maintain their love for it. The dedication and hard work that our children have demonstrated have provided us with numerous opportunities, and we are incredibly thankful for that. Their dedication motivates us all to keep pushing forward, aiming high, and ultimately achieving our goals.

We are Los Negrete Fam, a group of musicians bound by our love for music and family. As the singer and bass drum player, I, Cindy Negrete, contribute my vocal talents to our unique sound. My husband, Jaime Negrete, is not only the trombone player but also our teacher, passing down his knowledge and passion for music to the rest of the family. Our daughter, Heloisa, showcases her impressive drumming skills, while our son, JJ, acts as the hype man and an aspiring singer, bringing energy and joy to our performances. Together, we form a mini Banda Sinaloense, showcasing our creativity and unity through music.
Our social media presence has garnered attention for our distinctive and engaging videos. We often take song requests from our followers and create entertaining content with a unique twist. For example, we dress up our son according to the song’s theme, such as transforming him into a shark for a rendition of “Baby Shark.” Our goal is to produce content that is both amusing and fascinating for our audience.
Additionally, we enjoy sharing behind-the-scenes glimpses of our lives, including Heloisa’s busy schedule and various extracurricular activities. These insights give our followers an understanding of how we balance our daily routines and our shared love for creating music as a family. Ultimately, we cherish the time spent together, and while other families may bond over board games, sports, or watching TV, we find joy in playing music and growing as musicians side by side.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Over the next 5 to 10 years, our primary goal is to maintain our strong family bond. We believe that our love for each other’s company is what keeps us united and supportive of one another. We are committed to ensuring that our children continue to pursue their passions, whether it remains in music or if their interests evolve into sports or other endeavors. Our top priority is to provide unwavering support and encouragement as they strive to achieve their dreams.
As a family, we plan to keep learning, growing, and working hard to capitalize on new opportunities that come our way. We are eager to expand our musical reach and share our talents with wider audiences. By focusing on continuous growth, we hope to perform at larger events while also maintaining our dedication to community involvement, sharing our passion for music with those who have helped us along our journey. Ultimately, we want to inspire and be inspired, all while cherishing the love and unity that has brought us this far.
