Terrica, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.|
Growing up in a small town, Peoria, IL, I was taught the meaning of family and fun. I moved to Memphis when I was about 12 years old. I graduated high school in 2005 and immediately began my college career upon graduation, but in the following year, my life was changed eternally. I gave birth to my first and only child Haleigh on November 23, 2006, Thanksgiving Day! My life has never been the same, being a single mom I disappointedly quit school to get a job and take care of my daughter, though hardship and obstacles came to discourage me, I eventually returned to school and finally earned my degree in Psychology in 2012.
In 2014 God granted me an opportunity of a lifetime, I was offered a job where God used me to minister to young girls that have been hurt, abused and neglected. While sowing into the lives of these young girls, I had no idea what God had in store for me. As I lived this life that God had blessed me to enjoy in December 2015, I was abruptly interrupted by a doctor’s report informing me that I have a brain tumor and will need emergency brain surgery to ensure its noncancerous.. What??!! Wait??!! How could this be??? How could God allow this to happen to me??? I’m not a bad person?? I don’t deserve this!!!! February 18, 2016, I had brain surgery that revealed the tumor was noncancerous!!!! THANK YOU, JESUS… Four years later, God has allowed me to experience the different characteristics of who He is!! He has shown me that He is a Healer, Provider, Friend, Waymaker, Mind Regulator, Heart Fixer and the Prince of Peace!!!
In the year 2018, I became the proud business owner of dominiquelashae fashions where “Sophisticated is the New Sexy”, but dominiquelashae is not just about fashion, but a brand and will one day become a world-renown name… a girl can dream, right! I am also a new Podcaster, “Terrica’s Talk,” where it is my desire that we learn to break the barriers of communications in the black community. At 33 years old, I am determined to “Die with MEMORIES, not DREAMS!”
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This road has definitely been rocky. Fashion boutiques are at an all-time high, with that, the pressure to stay relevant and prosper is at an all-time high. With dominiquelashae being a different type of style that the others in my age group, the stance to never compromise is sometimes overwhelming and discouraging. I just truly believe you can have sex appeal fully clothed.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Life and business are very parallel your talent or gift may help you connect to your business, but it’s your character that will sustain you. Communication is one of my strong suits and I truly believe it’s one of the most important if not the most important. Being available to answer questions or resolve issues tactfully is what has helped me so much.
