Today we’d like to introduce you to Teri Ryan.
Teri, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started as a studio florist 20 years ago. Studio flowers are fun because you get to play with all kinds of styles and eras at the same time it can be challenging with the continuity and the fast pace nature of the industry. We opened Clementine in 2012 soon after we partnered with Sharon Lowe who had her own floral company here in Los Angeles and she had worked at all the top studios in town. Sharon and I had worked together in the past at one of the top event producers in town 9 years ago and we have been pretty much inseparable since!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
We loved our space in Silverlake but we grew out of it. It took us a long time to find the space we are in now but it’s great and huge and we have room to spread out so we are able to do all the things we did before studio work, events, deliveries, weekly house flowers, as well as workshops and we have even had a couple of art shows in the space. We have another coming soon. It’s really fun and inspiring. I was also diagnosed with Breast Cancer in April of 2016, so that was crazy and challenging for all of us. I got through it though with the help of may partners Sharon and Cain and the people that work with us. I could not have done it without them. Oh and the flowers themselves! They have been there for me for over 20 years keeping me inspired and fulfilled and I get to make art and make a living. Also, the cancer is gone! I am lucky.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
Clementine is an out of the box florist we specialize in unique and fun. We can do any style of arrangement from Classic to Modern to Vintage to Simple. But we love the crazy fun ones! We have said it before but we really love flowers we thank them and we pet them and we geek out on them, the love affair with them has never faded. We still have moments where we actually stop in our tracks when we see flowers and say isn’t this the most beautiful thing you have ever seen?
What were you like growing up?
I was all horses and dogs all the time. I wanted to be a vet. I did take a test in 8th grade where we had to answer all these random questions and when it was calculated in the end it said that I would be a good florist. No Joke.
When Sharon was growing up in Northern California her dad made her own spot to plant whatever she wanted in it. She was all about the forest and flowers and nature from day one, and still is to this day.

ok this is a “long shot”!
My name is Sarah. I used to be Twiggy’s nanny and Cain Devore was a friend to me and Carly in the summer of 1982? I don’t know if there is any way of getting in touch with Cain through you? I was talking with Carly yesterday and she was trying to remember her childhood and we were thinking of Cain. I would love to get in touch with him again and let him know that we are all well and happy……and hoping that life has been good to him.
Fondest regards.
