Meet Taryn Mitsunaga of TARYN + Co

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taryn Mitsunaga.

Taryn, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Born and raised in the heart of Los Angeles, I was in the workforce trying to figure out what it was I really wanted to dive into. There wasn’t a clear direction for a long time until the weekend that I had to put on this event for my job- It was right after the holidays, I was coming down with a really bad cold the night before but didn’t sleep and pushed through. The event was a success and at that point the fever, light headedness and exhaustion was in full motion, but believe it or not, I didn’t want to have been anywhere else. That was the day, I realized I needed to put a plan into motion and make something of this. The joy that was created was something I wanted to produce again and again for as many people as possible. Fast forward to almost 6 years later, here I am and always grateful that I have, TARYN + Co to call my own.

Has it been a smooth road?
I can’t say it’s been all smooth sailing but it has been rewarding. You definitely don’t dream about things like…

-working a 9-5 then through the night and weekends
-odd end jobs
-the sacrifice such as missing outings or once in the life time trips with friends and family
-random “what the hell am I doing” moments
-running into walls (figuratively and sadly, literally one time)
-goals you check off the list but then leave you questioning if that was even for you

The list is endless…

And when you’re in the midst of these obstacles, it’s not easy to look at the bright side of things because you’re so involved with keeping afloat and moving forward. But being able to reflect, pat yourself on the back and celebrate is what it’s all about because as cliché as this may sound, I wouldn’t be the person, boss and company that I am today without these challenges.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with TARYN + Co – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
TARYN + Co plans, designs, manages, coordinates, and produces events. When people want to celebrate or get together, they call me because they know it will be a great event that they can attend and provide for their guests! We are starting to assist with bringing brands to life and celebrating their success through socials but we specialize in private events. We are definitely most known for our Kids Birthday parties and Socials (themed, birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, showers, etc…).

I am so proud of all of the events we’ve produced. There is a lot that goes into an event from design to the logistics of it all. I love it. There are event planners kicking butt everywhere but we really value our client’s time and their experience. Events are stressful, whether ten people are coming over for a dinner party to 1k+ guests at a venue. Being able to maintain our client’s reassurance and deliver their vision, along with blowing the guests away with every moment is what sets us apart from other event planning companies.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Like: I love how our city has all of the concerts that go on tour. If I want to see an artist, you best believe they’re stopping in LA!

Dislike: When everyone slows down to see the accident it is the worst but then again, I am guilty of it too…. so I can honestly say, traffic.
