Meet Tarashaun Hausner of Blender Babes in Hermosa Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tarashaun Hausner.

Tarashaun, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
After a decade of struggling with an eating disorder and low self-esteem, I discovered how instrumental a high-powered blender was in getting my personal health back on track. Blending daily provided me with both a physical and emotional transformation.

I wanted to help others on their journey to wellness. So I combined my passion for blending and healthy eating and launched a website called Blender Babes that has since become a storehouse of information on blenders, nutritious recipes, and healthy living.

Today, I’ve helped over 10,000 people choose the best blender for themselves and their family, and we are a large community of health and wellness seekers.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being an entrepreneur is never a smooth road! The challenges, however, are what help us grow. In the last few years running my business, I have worn more hats than I ever did in any other job. Now I can say I know a good amount about running an (online) business from marketing, advertising, technology, operations, hiring and managing people, copywriting, graphic design, photography, accounting and more.

In the beginning, there were sooooo many learning curves, it was (and still can be!) incredibly overwhelming. It was also much easier to get distracted and not focus on the most important things – before I found ways to be more accountable. Working and living from home can be very isolating, especially for an extrovert (or ambivert like me).

Since it’s your business, working 12-14 hours a day and on weekends was a given in the beginning. Today things are much different. And better!

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Blender Babes – what should we know?
Blender Babes isn’t just a blog, it’s a community and a resource for wellness. I share with my follower’s recipes, information on blending —including how to buy a blender that’s best for your budget and lifestyle— and tips on how to eat better, live healthier and heal themselves.

As I have dealt with depression, body dysmorphia and an eating disorder, as well as IBS; my specialty is spreading the good news about how blending can be a game-changer when it comes to living healthier because it helped me get in the path of optimal health and wellness.

Several times a year I offer free challenges for our community to get them to make a small change that will improve their health. I also created The Blender Cleanse™ which is a gentle seven day whole foods cleanse that anyone can do.

There have been tremendous results from our community members who have tried it, and I host a live group Blender Cleanse challenge 2-3x per year.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
My willingness to learn how to do something myself has been vital to both my personal healing and being an entrepreneur.

Regarding my business, even if I eventually delegated or hired a company for a task, the fact that I understood how something worked helped me to either show how I wanted it done or not get taken to the cleaners. It has saved me a lot of money and headaches in the long run.

If you want your business to still be around in the future, I think it’s important to know how everything works.

Regarding my healing, therapy and anti-depressants didn’t work. It was when I started researching and reading about spirituality and different health modalities I was finally able to overcome my personal struggles.
