Today we’d like to introduce you to Tanya and Noel Senior.
Tanya and Noel, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Little Kingston Jamaican Restaurant has evolved from a fundraiser for our daughter’s trip to China, to a food delivery service, Jamaica on the go, and currently a brick and mortar store. Located at 4716 W Slauson Ave, Windsor Hills, CA 90056. And coming this Fall we’ve expanded our restaurant to the Baldwin Hills area. Behind the old Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Mall.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
We can honestly say with God’s blessings and us being so persistent, the road has been pretty smooth. I kind of had a good advantage with me working at LAX/Airport Police and my husband Noel being a Chef. I was able to start fundraising for our daughter’s trip to China by having bake sales at work with my employer’s permission. Then my husband decided to add some Jerk Chicken & Rice & Peas to the bake sale and Jamaica On The Go was born. We were delivering dinners all over the airport and also all over LA. the word was spreading fast about us. We started an Instagram account and began to have a following. We would sell out of food every week. Fast forward three years later and we opened our first Jamaican Restaurant.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Little Kingston Jamaican Restaurant story. Tell us more about the business.
Little Kingston Jamaican Restaurant specializes in authentic Jamaican Cuisine. We are a family-owned and operated restaurant, we serve delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner. We are open seven days a week. And we have a wide array of menu options. We even serve Curry lobster.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Good Luck: We’ve had the opportunity to meet a lot of great people including celebrities and important people which have brought on other opportunities for us such as: Large catering orders, filming in our restaurant, etc.
Bad Luck: We would say that having a successful business can bring some people around just to try to benefit from you. People wanting to partner with you even though you don’t know them. Or others that want all types of favors for whatever reasons.
