Meet Tanya Bures of PAGE Beauty in Venice Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tanya Bures.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’ve always had my hand in the arts, entering drawing competitions as a child, then illustrating my way through college at Parsons School of Design in New York. It was during my time studying fashion design when I realized my passion for beauty far exceeded my passion for clothing. I was obsessed with makeup by makeup masters Francois Nars, Laura Mercier and Kevyn Aucoin, among other pioneering makeup artists during the 90’s.

A fellow student (and guardian angel?) suggested I take some time away from school and work at a cosmetic counter where I could still be artistic and have fun with makeup. Little did I know a major part of selling cosmetics is offering amazing customer service during the application. I credit my experience in retail for not only learning to work with different ethnicities and ages but also for teaching me invaluable ways to connect with everyone in my chair.

After a few years of working behind the counter, I realized I loved applying the makeup, but I didn’t necessarily want to continue selling products. That’s when I became an independent makeup artist and continued my client relationships outside of retail.

As my client base expanded through word of mouth, more clients began referring me to brides and wedding vendors. Before I knew it, I was honing my skills in wedding day beauty. I began pulling together my favorite hairstylists and makeup artists to work with on new weddings. It was a natural process to create PAGE Beauty, comprised with some of the best artists in bridal beauty. Now that we’ve become the go-to beauty service for weddings in LA, our team brings a relaxing and fun getting ready experience for everyone.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I believe life is a balance of struggles and successes. How we manage each defines who we are and encourages us to move past new challenges. Each year, I’m motivated to find new ways to distinguish PAGE Beauty from other companies by refining our service and approach to new ideas.

PAGE Beauty – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
PAGE Beauty is a team of hairstylists and makeup artists dedicated to wedding day beauty. Our specialty is fresh, effortless beauty with professional and experienced artistry. Our tight-knit team intuitively understands our bride and each other, which is what sets us apart.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
In our first year as a company, we were featured in Bride’s Magazine as “one of the best wedding day beauty services on the West Coast.” This has been our most proudest moment thus far, and we look forward to many more!
